Another creature with a very misleading name, Werehyenas do not have a Human form nor have they ever been Human.

The reason that they got their name is because of how they look. They look like a Hyena version of a Werewolf. They even have similar features to Werewolves including immense speed and strength and an ability to constantly shift between a bipedal and quadrupedal form.

They are the evolved descendants of the extinct Pachycrocuta.

Unlike their ancestors, Werehyenas are apex predators that have been known to prey on everything from Elephants to Gazelles.

Werehyenas are such effective predators that they have been known to not only outcompete other apex predators that live in their range ( Lions, Spotted Hyenas, Leopards, African Wild Dogs, Etc. ), but also occasionally prey on those predators.

Werehyenas mate for life, but hunt alone. If a Werehyena is seen hunting with another Werehyenas than one of them is either sick or injured.

As it was stated in a earlier fact, Werehyenas have the ability to switch between a bipedal stance and a quadrupedal stance, but they usually only go into their bipedal stance in order to see over long distances and to intimidate other animals.

Rather than " laugh" like their Spotted Hyena cousins, Werehyenas roar and this roar is sometimes so loud that it can be heard from up to 10 miles away.

Like many other animals, Werehyenas have a nictitating membrane that protectively forms over their eyes when they are hunting or fighting.

It would be pretty much pointless for anything to follow a Werehyena in hopes of scavenging off of their kills as they eat all parts of their prey and leave no evidence of it behind. They will even lick up drops of blood on the ground.

They live across Africa and in a few parts of the Middle East. It is still unclear as to why they don't live in Europe or Asian countries outside the Middle East despite the fact that their ancestors lived in those places.

Werehyenas are far more intelligent than they appear to be and are easily capable of understanding even the most advanced forms of speech.

They are great at climbing trees and ones that live in jungles and forests use this ability as a way to ambush prey.

Werehyenas can live for up to 90 years which is 6 times the lifespan length of every other Hyena species.

Extra Fun Fact: While it would seem that Werehyenas and Werewolves would be rivals, they are actually very respectful towards each other and there have been no known cases of conflict between a Werewolf and a Werehyena.
