Animal Class: Mammal
Diet: Carnivorous
Once through to be a type of Lion or even a type of Leopard, Mngwa are very elusive felines.
Due to their elusiveness, very little is still known about them.
They are ambush predators that hide in trees or bushes and wait for unsuspecting prey to walk by.
Their main source of prey is Antelopes like Impala and Gazelle.
One of the rarest species of wild Cat, Mngwa are currently only known to live in Tanzania and Kenya.
While their fur would appear to be black at first glance, it is actually a very dark shade of blue. It's their stripes that are black.
The large tuft of fur that stretches from the back of their head to the end of their shoulders exists in all individuals, but is larger in females.
Despite living in Africa, they are more closely related to the Snow Leopard, an Asian species, than they are to African cats like Lions, Leopards, and Cheetahs.
They live in large forests and almost never emerge from them. It is believed that most Mngwa will go their entire lives without leaving the forests they were born in.
While they hunt alone, many have been spotted in small groups meaning they most likely form prides like Lions do, but don't hunt with their pride.
Extra Fun Fact: Mngwa were once believed to be a surviving species of Saber-Toothed Cat
