"Sorry for the disturbance, but . . ." she secretly gaze her weary yet still mesmerizing brown eyes at my direction, "the vending machine in our school was out of stock of my cigarette . . . and you're the first person that I unluckily noticed, managed to drag in here, and come with me, so . . ." before producing an insincere cough to at least minimize the awkwardness she feel towards me, "so yeah, thank you for joining me tonight, Dazai."

I didn't answer quickly as I tried to keep up with her fast, in my perspective, foot pace to stay walking at her side.

Well, if it is still not obvious? I'm a type of person that doesn't really into long and sort of useless walking, especially when I just wake up from a dreadful nightmare, and I don't have an enough energy to keep up with someone's bullshit.

However . . .

"Nah~! It's fine, I surely understand, Shoko-chan~!"

I look up at the dark yet unbelievably starry sky above us before finally finishing my sentence. "Your situation is kinda shit, indeed?"

For some reason, her lifeless answer makes me unconsciously smile while still staring above.

Shoko's personality somehow reminds me of someone from my not so adorable past. A person that I seemingly despise yet completely can't. I'm not exactly sure why, but, maybe because of her straightforwardness? Or the lingering responsibility that I didn't ma—

My attention quickly shifted at the dark and narrow corridor not far from us when I feel that familiar presence that is busy watching us like a predator with an oblivious prey.

However, instead of dealing with it, I simply continue with my business and accompany Shoko inside the small convenience store.

After we buy her cigarette, and some sweet snacks and drinks that could satisfy Gojo and Suguru's curiosity if ever they asked us, I wait for the right moment before I decided to tell her to go back in our school without me.

"And why?" she suspiciously asked.

"Well~! I forget to buy something? And I just remember that I badly craving for it~?"

"Then I'm going with y—"

"Nope!" I immediately cut off before I gave her a light pat on the shoulder. "Just a couple of good minutes and those two idiots are going to wake up in their little world, yes~? And if they wake up, then Yaga-sensei also too, right~? And I don't want you to get a bad record with your parents — even if you already had — by simply sneaking outside the school without permission, especially by our sensei, so~?"
