52 - JUBILEE!!!

Today is my birthday. I'm twenty five years today and I can't believe it. It was just like yesterday when I ran around, playing about. I remembered my teenage years too, but now, I'm a full grown man.

I smiled as I drove into my compound, the full moon light, illuminating the night graciously. When I alighted my car, I felt the cool evening breeze blow by my side and when I couldn't feel it, I turned to see where it had gone only to botice a new car in my compound. It was decorated with ribbons and had a big banner that read. "Happy birthday brother."

I knew it was Anna.

What is happening?

I didn't want a big party, infact, I wanted to spend the night only with Lilly. My whole family had called while I was at work to wish me well, and I know they'd send their gifts.

I pulled the handle of my door in a jiffy, thinking of the night I was going to spend with Lilly.

And everything I saw next wad dark.

"What the fuck?" I cursed, loosening my tie and then my eyesight was blinded for the next few seconds, when the lights came on in full force.

"Suprise!!!" A room full of excited people who were my family and friends shouted.

I stood transfixed.

I wasn't expecting this, finally, I let out the smile which had been playing on my lips. It was a nervous smile.

The first person I slighted was Lilly. Too beautiful to be mine. Her whole body set me on fire the dress hugging her body. Her make up took me to another level, it just for her perfectly. And her hair was natural, packed up neatly just the way I liked it. She stood at the back a beautiful smile on her face. Then she wss wearing the bracelet that I gifted her. The same way the diamond shimmered was the way her eyes shimmered. And then her lips twitched, silently wishing me a "happy birthday."

I chuckled, and finally looked at the other people in the room. I'm sure they'd notice that I've been staring.

I saw several cakes arranged on the dressed table, they were at least up to twelve. Did everyone come with a cake? Well, they need to prepare beabuse they're all going back with it. What am I doing with a dozen of cake?

I noticed that the whole house was transformed with posters, banners, decorations, pictures of me and balloons.

"Well guys thanks a lot. You're one in a million. I can't believe this." I mused, bending to collect my gift from the kids.

"Took you too long to say." I heard Annabelle murmur, with a roll of the eye.

"He was looking at his babe." Chisomaga chipped in and I looked up to see the playful smile on her face.

I shot her a death glare and she chuckled.

"Guys come on stop it. Let's sing for him." My mom urged, in her beautiful voice and I noticed her nails which were fixed in black when she raised up her hand.

"Yeah we will." Charlie rolled his eyes.

"Happy birthday to you," Lilly began in a sweet soprano voice and others followed.

"Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you. How would are you now? How old are you now? How old are you now Lemuel?..." They screamed and I fought the urge to place my hands over my ears. They are just too lousy. Too loud.

"You all know how old I am." I said with my hands in my pocket, and hiding a laugh because that was a crazy question and because I was overwhelmed with joy.
