Chapter 19

Hindi umalis si Papa sa tabi ko. Kung pwede lang siguro niya akong kandungin gaya ng maliit na bata ginawa niya na. Panay ang yakap at halik nito sa akin. Gustong bumawi sa mga taong nawala sa amin.

Kanina pa din ito nagpapasalamat kay Tatay Ben at sinabing kahit na andito na siya patuloy pa ding maging bahagi ng buhay ko si Tatay Ben. 

Nanatili pa kami sa office ni Kuya dahil ang sabi niya wala naman daw siyang meeting ngayong araw. According to him, he set this day for us. 

Salitan si Kuya Hendrick at Tatay Ben sa pagsagot sa mga tanong ni Papa at Kuya Gaden. He said I will call him Kuya from now on and treat him as my older brother. Nakakatuwang isipin na isang araw bigla nalang akong nagkaraon ng isa pang tatay at isang kapatid,nadagdagan ang mga taong nagmamahal sa akin.

"Your mama is working as a waitress in the restaurant near my office." panimula ni Papa. "She's so nice and beautiful." Pagkatapos malambing  ang mga mata ni papa na tumingin sa mukha ko. "You look exactly like your mama, except that you got your eyes from me."

"We fell in love and planned to have a family. She's the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I thought she's the one for me but one day she left me with just a letter telling me that she doesn't love me anymore and that she found someone better than me."

"At first I didn't look for her. Why would I? I was hurt and she's the one who left.  My pride was bruised. But I realized that I can't do it, I love your mom. I love her simplicity and her pure heart. So I started looking for her, only to find out that she's already gone. I'm already late because of my pride."

Tumigil ito saglit. Pinuno ng hangin ang dibdib at muling pinakawalan. Naluluha ako, ito ang kwentong matagal ko nang gustong marinig. Ang kwento kung paano ako nabuo at kung anong nangyari bakit sila nagkahiwalay ni mama.

"She left me with a letter telling me that she was pregnant. That day she chose to leave me is that day that  she found out that she was sick. She didn't want to burden me so she chose to run away. It was selfish move and she asked forgiveness for that. I'd forgiven her and I said I will make it up to you. I'll do anything for you but then I couldn't find you because she left you to someone else she didn't know."

Dama ko ang lungkot sa boses ni Papa habang kinukwento ang nakaraan nila ni mama. Gusto ko man siyang patigilin pero mas nanaig ang kagustuhan kong marinig ang kwento ng pagmamahalan ni mama at papa noon.

"Many years I tried. I searched everywhere, I asked whoever saw your mom that night outside the church but nobody could tell me. I hired private investigators, I'm willing to spend my fortune just to find you but I failed."

Nakita ko ang marahas niyang paglunok. Pinakalma niya muna ang sarili bago ito nagpatuloy.

"I started moving on with my life until I met another beautiful soul, Lucas' mom, your Tita Sol, but you can call her Mama too. Lucas was already ten years old at that time" He stopped and took a glance at Kuya Gaden. That look of love from a father to his son.

"My life is so miserable that time but they saved me. I married your Mama Sol and then I changed Lucas name into mine and treated him as my own."

"Years passed, we never stop looking for you. Your Kuya Lucas is the one who helped me." he took a glance at Kuya Gaden and said his thanks. "I can't thank him enough for not giving up on you. He's personally attending your case. At last after how many years of searching...finally, we found you."

"Thank you so much, son." Pasalamat ni papa kay Kuya.

"Don't mention it, Dad. I'm happy to do that for our princess." nakangiti nitong sagot.
