Anne places down her notebook on the coffee table and crosses over her leg as she clasps her hands together. She looks at me curiously and shows a warm friendly smile before beginning the session.
"How has your week been, Maya?"
"Good." I nod and then cover my hand over my mouth as I yawn.
"You seem tired. Did you have another sleepless night?"
"Something like that..." I mumble and smile slowly as I look down at my hands, thinking about last night with Michael.
We barely slept at all. We stayed up all night talking and having passionate sex. We were too excited to sleep and wanted to stay awake with each other for as long as possible - neither of us wanted to stop touching and looking at each other... we didn't want our intense and passionate night to end. We could've stayed in that moment, holding each other forever. We stayed awake until the morning light filled the room and the birds started singing, but by that point, tiredness suddenly hit us both and Michael was the first to drift off to sleep, with me following shortly after. We didn't sleep for long, though, probably 20 minutes or so.
"How are you feeling, apart from being tired?" Anne asks, snapping me from my thoughts.
I can't stop the smile on my face from growing wider. All I can think about is Michael and how perfect last night was.
"Good." I nod.
"Good?" She smiles and raises an eyebrow, curious to know why I'm smiling so much. "I'm glad to hear that. Do you want to talk about anything that has happened in the last week since we saw each other? Take me through what you've been up to."
"Umm..." I have to try hard to stop thinking about last night so I can remember other things that have happened this week. "Work has been fine... I borrowed Romeo and Juliet, so I've been reading that a lot."
"One of my favourites." She smiles.
"Mine too." I nod, playing with the rings on my fingers. "Michael and I went to an art gallery."
"Oh, lovely. How was that?"
"It was great. It was one I hadn't been to before."
"Have you started drawing again?"
"No..."
"Why not?"
"I just haven't been in the mood. I'm not ready yet." I shrug.
"Something tells me it won't be long before you pick up a paint brush again." She smiles. "What else have you been up to?"
"I went strawberry picking with Michael, Wes and Amy. We had a nice time."
"That's good. It's nice to hear you're being social and interacting with friends. That's great progress, Maya."
I nod slowly and show a little smile.
"I signed up to a gym."
"Oh, really?" She raises her eyebrows. "You have been busy, haven't you? What made you want to do that?"
"Exercise is supposed to be good for your mental health and it's something I haven't tried before. I thought it might work for me, so I signed up to the gym Michael goes to."
"That's amazing. It's great that you've decided to do this for yourself. You're trying different things and finding what works for you. How was it?"
"It was actually pretty good. Michael's sort of become my personal trainer." I laugh softly. "When it comes to exercise, I have no idea what I'm doing, and Michael really helped me."
