Maya takes her eyes away from the window and turns her head to look at me.
"Can we stop off at a store?"
"Uh, yeah, why?"
"I was just thinking about buying your mom some flowers."
I briefly take my eyes away from the road and smile softly at her.
"That's sweet of you."
"We're not going to be late, are we?"
"I think we might be... but that's ok. I'll text her."
"Oh, I'm sorry." She frowns.
"What for?"
"I'm seeing your mom for the first time again and now I've made us late because I wanted sex in the library. That's not good, is it?"
"It's ok." I laugh softly and reach out, taking hold of her hand. "My mother won't mind. We aren't going to be that late. And anyway, we have an excuse, we can just say we were buying her flowers, which is true, we just won't tell her the whole truth." I smirk.
Maya shows a little smile and let's out a soft laugh.
"I wanted sex too, you know? It's not all on you." I lift her hand up to my mouth and kiss her knuckles.
She smiles shyly and turns her head, gazing out the window again.
I find a nearby store and park up. We walk hand in hand across the car park as we head inside.
"These are pretty. Would your mom like these?" Maya asks as she picks up a bunch of pink roses.
"Yeah, she likes roses."
She smiles and examines the condition of them and the other flowers before she makes a decision.
"Which flowers would you like?"
"Um, if your mom likes roses then I'll probably buy her these-"
"No, I meant which do you like? I want to buy you flowers."
She takes her eyes away from the roses in her hand and meets my gaze, showing a cute smile.
"It's ok, we should get going. We're going to be so late-"
"We will if you don't tell me which ones you like."
"Michael." She laughs softly. "You don't have to buy me anything."
"But I want to, now pick a bunch." I order.
"I don't know..." She shakes her head, scanning her eyes over the flowers. "I like them all."
"Then I'll buy you all of them."
"No." She widens her eyes and laughs before wrapping her arm around mine. "I know you would actually do that too."
"Of course." I nod. "There's a lot of flowers, though, so I'd need someone to help me with them. I'll call someone over." I look around and spot someone who works here. "Excuse me?" I call out.
"No! Michael!" Maya widens her eyes and tugs on my arm.
The young guy I called over promptly makes his way towards us which makes Maya groan.
"Hi, how can I help?"
"Hi, I'd like to buy all of these flow-"
"Are these all the flowers you have?" Maya quickly cuts me off and I can't help but smile as we give each other a look.
"Uh, yeah." The store assistant nods. "There might be some more out the front."
"Ok, thanks." Maya speaks quickly and nods, trying to let him know that we don't need any help.
