Amy and I finished our gym session off on the cross trainers. I press stop and wipe some sweat off my forehead before stepping off the machine. While I wait for Amy to finish, I take the time to cool down and drink some water.

I feel a sharp pain in my lower stomach that makes me wince slightly. I hold my stomach and take a deep breath. Amy's finished now, so I try to act normal and forget about it.

"Phew." She said as she made her way over to me. "I need a shower."

"Me too." I laugh softly.

We head for the shower room and get ourselves clean before leaving.

We go to the coffee shop like we usually do after our gym sessions to just chat and have a bit of girl time. I order my usual fruit smoothie, and Amy gets an iced coffee.

"You ok, Maya?" Amy asks.

"Mmm." I nod, swallowing my smoothie. "I'm fine."

"You seem a bit quiet."

"No, sorry. I'm ok, honestly."

She smiles and sips her coffee.

"Have you heard back from the adoption agency yet?"

"Yeah." I smile. "The phone call went really well, and the lady was so nice. She wants to meet us face to face next week."

"That's great. Things seem to be moving quickly."

"Yeah, but it's such a long process. It can take months."

"That's ok, though. It will give you time to prepare and get everything ready. Do you want a girl or boy?"

"Michael and I really aren't fussed. We just want to love them and give them a happy life. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter."

"If you have a girl, I'll give you some of Sienna's baby clothes."

"Really?"

"Of course. She's far too big for them now, and I'd love for you to have them."

"Aw, thank you. Only if you're sure?"

"Yes, absolutely. It's not like I have any use for them anymore."

"You might have another baby girl."

"Maybe, but not any time soon." She makes a face and chuckles.

"Well, thank you. That's kind."

"Have you thought about names yet?"

"Not really... we still need to be accepted and approved yet, so I don't want to get my hopes up too high. It's still early days."

"It's not like you and Michael have a criminal record. Why wouldn't you be accepted?"

"I don't know." I shrug. "I just worry, I guess."

"Well, don't. It will all be fine." She smiles. "And all the waiting will be worth it."

"Thanks." I show a little smile.

I take a sip of my smoothie before standing up.

"I'm just going to use the restroom."

I head to the ladies and use the toilet. As I'm wiping myself, I glance down and notice some blood on my panties... I slowly look at the tissue paper and freeze for a second. There's blood, but not a lot. I try not to panic. Maybe it's just a period... I take a deep breath and try not to worry. I don't have anything on me, so I put some tissue in my panties and stand up. I flush the toilet and wash my hands, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
