"Keep your eyes closed."
"They're closed!" I giggle. "Come on, hurry up! The suspense is killing me."
"Let me get out and help you. No peeking!"
"Yes, ok." I sigh and moan becoming more impatient.
I hear Michael get out the car and shut the door before coming over to my side and opening my door. He takes hold of my hands and carefully helps me out of the car.
"Can I open them now?"
"Wait."
"Oh my god." I groan.
"Just wait a second!" He laughs.
I slowly follow his lead and then feel him let go of my hands.
"Ok, you can open them."
I smile widely, feeling anxious and excited, and for a split second I'm hesitant to open my eyes. I slowly blink them open and I'm shocked to see a big, beautiful house right in front of me. But, I feel confused as to why Michael has brought me here. Where am I? Who's house is this?
"Um?" I lower my eyebrows and let out a slight laugh as I turn to look at Michael.
He's standing right next to a "sold" sign... my jaw immediately drops. No... is this what I think it is?
"This is our new home." He smiles.
Oh. My. God.
I'm literally speechless. I was not expecting this. My eyes widen and I take another look at the humongous house in disbelief.
"Y-you bought this?"
"Yes, for us."
"Fucking hell..." I mutter.
My jaw is on the floor and my eyes are still popping out of my head.
Michael's smile fades and he suddenly looks a bit nervous because he's unsure of how I feel about this. He walks away from the "sold" sign and comes by my side.
"Do you like it?" He asks as he tries to read my reaction.
"Yeah! I mean, it's beautiful, but how much did this cost?! It looks so expensive." I turn to look at him and we gaze into each others eyes.
He instantly eases up and smiles slowly.
"I've been wanting to buy a house for a long time, and I had enough money. Now just felt like the right time to do it, and being with you meant I finally had a reason to go for it. I want us to have a forever home. We obviously need to move all of our stuff in, but once we've done that we can finally make it our own and call it a home."
I cover my hand over my mouth and burst in to tears.
"What the hell? I can't believe you've done this."
"Maya." He frowns and holds my arms. "I can't work out if those are happy or sad tears."
"They're happy." I laugh through my sobs.
He sighs with relief and wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his body.
"But, this is insane! I can't believe it... you really bought this?"
"Yes." He laughs and moves my hair away from my wet cheeks. "It's all ours."
"When the hell did you buy it!?"
"A few weeks ago. And it's been so hard to keep it a secret from you because I've been so excited about it. There's been so many times when I've wanted to tell you, but I wanted to wait for the right time to surprise you. I was going to wait until all the papers were signed and I wanted to get it looking all nice and ready for you, but I figured you would start asking questions and wonder why I'm boxing things up." He chuckles.
