I furrowed my eyebrows as the mysical carried on, the cheesy yet sort of catchy songs blasting as the actors reenacting the battle of New York. It was a tad insensitive to be making a musical off of an incredibly devastating event yet here we are.
Then Natasha well, the person playing Natasha strutted onto the stage doing a cartwheel. I sighed as I felt a lump build up in my throat.
I glanced over to my dad who was staring blankly at the stage.
"Dad" I whispered.
He didn't react.
"Dad" I spoke a touch louder.
I rolled my eyes and clicked my fingers infront of his eyes causing him to jump lightly. He'd turned off his hearing aids.
"You can't just turn your hearing aids off dad" I signed.
Clint sighed and turned his hearing aids on.
"I was there, I don't need to listen to this, but do you know who wasn't there antman" dad scoffed pointing at the man playing antman.
I chuckled but I noticed my dad begin to zone out again his gaze not moving from the actor playing Natasha.
"I know you miss her" I said nodding my head towards Natasha.
"We all do" my dad sighed offering me a weak smile.
I returned the smile but we could both tell our smiles were fake. My father excused himself saying he had to go to the bathroom and I knew he most likely wouldn't be coming back.
"Where's dad gone?" My younger brother Nathaniel asked.
"He's just gone to the bathroom Nate, he'll be back" I lied.
Nathan gave me an innocent smile and nodded turning his attention back to the stage watching in awe at the performance, not really grasping the story. I leaned over top of Nate and spoke to my little sister Lila.
"Look after the boys I'll be right back" I whispered.
She nodded and gave me a small thumbs up. I gave her a small smile before getting up and heading towards the back.
I exited the theater the sound of music become muffled and eventually grow silent when I stepped outside the door. The cold air hit me and I shivered stuffing my hands in my pocket.
I could see Clint crouched down on the ground staring at the snow covered pavement.
"Dad" I called out approaching him.
Clint's head swiveled around so he faced me, he let out a sigh. His breath visible in the ice cold air.
He stood up walking over to me.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked.
"Just needed some fresh air" He shrugged.
"We know that's not true, you can't get fresh air in New York" I teased.
My dad let out a small chuckle shaking his head.
"I honestly just can't watch that shit anymore" Clint laughed.
"Hey mom said no swearing" I shook my head at him in a teasing manner.
"That's just around Nate, your twenty-one I'm sure you can handle it" he rolled his eyes causing me to laugh.
"No but seriously why are you out here?" I asked.
"I just can't ok, it's too tough" He shrugged not wanting to elaborate.
I sighed and nodded knowingly.
"Should I tell them we're leaving? Because if I'm honest this musical is awful" I said.
Clint laughed and nodded, I went back inside seeing Nate half asleep on his chair.
"Seriously?" I chuckled quietly.
I was always amazed at my brother's ability to sleep in the loudest places. I shook my head with a smile and picked up my younger brother his hands instinctively wrapping around my neck.
"Come on" I spoke gesturing towards the exit.
Lila and Cooper furrowed their brows in confusion wondering why we we're leaving early but nevertheless they followed me outside.
"Are we leaving already Y/n?" Cooper asked.
"Yeah we gotta go" I replied adjusting Nate in my arms.
We left outside and Clint smiled at my siblings. No one asked why we were leaving but to be honest they probably knew.
My whole family was dusted, except for Clint and I. That was five years ago, I went from being a year older than Cooper to being six years older. I spent most of my time at the Avengers compound training with my Aunt Nat preparing myself for a next battle.
I already knew the basics as Clint made sure I knew but I knew I couldn't just know the basics. With what could happen in our world now, aliens, androids and wizards I had to be prepared.
Clint was "traveling". Well being a vigilante is more like it. We kept in touch often but he had his mission and I had mine, we met up in secret as he didn't want to put my life or anyone else's lives in danger but I could tell he wanted to stop.
But it's not that easy to stop the life he had started.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel room and I put Nate into bed before heading back out into the lounge. Everyone was staring at the TV.
"The masked vigilante Ronin is back!" The news reporter spoke.
Clint spun around to face me, his eyes wide in shock.
Oh shit.
A/n
Ok so they don't really disclose Clint's kids ages in the Hawkeye series. They might in the future but Idk as I'm writing this when only the first two episodes are out. Also they didn't recast the kids so they look older than they should be but in this I'm having their ages as how the should be (roughly). So Nathaniel is 5, Lila is 12 and Cooper is 15. This is all very rough but whatever and you are 21 obviously ((:
