As soon as we took a step onto the sidewalk Kate let out a choked sob. I sighed and grabbed her pulling her into my chest.
She sobbed and gripped my jacket as she rested her forehead on my chest, her cheeks rolled down her face wetting my jacket. I rested my head ontop of Kate's and wrapped my arms around her.
"I'm no superhero" She choked out.
"Don't say that" I replied.
She lifted her head up and looked at me, she had cuts across her face one significant one above her eyebrow. Her cheeks were red and tears rolled down them.
"I'm not Clint was right" Kate sighed.
I shook my head and brought my hands up cupping her face.
"No what Clint said back there is bullshit. He's wrong you deserve to be fighting alongside us hell you're good enough to be. He just wants to protect you and to be honest I do to but I know you can do that yourself. You deserve to be a hero Kate" I said.
She smiled slightly as I wiped my thumb over her cheek brushing away her tears.
"I'm no avenger" Kate chuckled.
"That's ok, it doesn't make you less of a person because you haven't fought aliens or robots. It doesn't matter about what you've done all that matters is what you'll do" I told her.
"What did you steal that speech from Captain America" She teased.
"I may have used some pointers" I chuckled.
Kate shook her head and leaned forward resting her chin on my shoulder.
"Now that I'm off the team, will I ever be able to see you again?" Kate asked.
I sighed and pulled away resting my hands on her shoulders.
"I promise you Kate this won't be the last time you'll see me" I said.
"Pinky promise" Kate asked pouting her lower lip like a child.
I rolled my eyes but still raised my pinky and interlocked it with hers a smile growing on her face.
"You can't get rid of me now Barton" Kate teased as she linked arms with me.
"Is it too late to take it back" I joked.
"Don't be an ass" She laughed playfully hitting my side.
"Hey I'm kidding don't kill me" I laughed.
"Good now let's go back to my apartment I need to get some stuff before I head home" Kate said tugging on my sleeve.
"Let's go then" I replied.
Kate smiled and turned to me a cheeky grin plastered on her face.
"You know there's mistletoe above us right?" Kate laughed.
I looked up but frowned slightly when there was nothing.
"There isn't" I laughed still looking up.
"I know but I just wanted an excuse to kiss you" Kate said.
She grabbed my chin pulling me down i to a searing kiss, I immediately kissed back pulling her flush against my body as her mouth moved along mine. I could feel her smile into the kiss as I tugged lightly on her hair.
We heard someone clear there throat loudly and we immediately pulled away looking back to receive a disappointing look from an old man.
"Cockblocker" I rolled my eyes.
Kate laughed and pulled me along before I beat the shit out of some homophobic old man.
"We can finish our makeout session away from old weirdos don't worry" Kate laughed as we continued down the street.
"Good" I replied looking down at her with a smile.
We walked down the road the air was cold and it blew drops of snow through the air. An array of colorful Christmas lights illuminated the road.
"What if you don't take me home just yet" Kate said pausing in the middle of the sidewalk.
I turned to look at her.
"Think about it after this you'll leave New York, this may be the last time I see you again for ages" She said.
"I will see you again" I told her.
She nodded her head.
"I know but it won't be for a while and her what's the harm in having a little fun before you head home" Kate smirked.
"Screw it, what did you have in mind?" I asked.
A smile grew on Kate's face as she took up a jog with me trailing behind her. She let out an infectious laugh and spin around. The streets were quite and it was only us.
I laughed shaking my head and ran besides her.
"Where are we going?" I called out.
She turned around and began jogging backwards so she could face me.
"Just wait and see Barton" She chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and Kate laughed turning back around. We arrived at Rockefeller square.
A smile grew on my face as I looked up at the Christmas tree.
"Taking me to the tree huh?" I asked.
"Oh no not just the tree" She smirked.
