The three of us walked into the foyer, Kate linking her arm with mine as we walked through the door. I gave a nod to Grills who was keeping look out at the door.
"Jesus this place is flash" I whispered.
Kate nodded as I looked around the ballroom, my eyes wide.
"We'll scope out the place, let me know when about anything suspicious" Clint said.
We both nodding showing that we understood, he leant adjusted the the earpiece in his ear.
"I would say keep close but it looks you already know that" Clint said raising his brows.
"Just go" I said.
Clint snickered and walked off heading towards the large floor to ceiling windows, looking out of them. Kate gave me a small smile and rubbed her hand up and down my arm.
"Let's go" Kate said leading me around the room.
We wandered around the room my eyes scanning the faces of the rich and famous. As we walked around eventually we spotted Kate's mom who was talking to her fiancé Jack. Poor Jack probably was framed like he said, roped into this mess.
"I'll go talk to her ok" Kate said.
She pulled her arm out, an immediate feeling of coldness overtaking the spot where she was just touching me.
"Good luck" I said.
Kate smiled and pressed a quick kiss on my lips, despite it being short it still made my stomach spin, it still made me feel like the room was spinning and I was floating.
"I'll be back ok" Kate said.
I nodded and Kate walked towards her mother dragging her into the kitchen for some privacy.
"Spotted anyone?" I asked Clint.
"Unfortunately not" Clint sighed.
I spotted him across the room, he stood looking out the large windows. Suddenly Clint looked down at his chest panicked before he dove for the ground. Gunshots firing.
"Get down!" I shouted down.
I dove onto the ground sitting behind the bar, shots firing over the top of me. Screams of fear where heard echoing around the ballroom.
"Get them out of her" I shouted into my earpiece.
"On it!" Grills replied.
"It's Kazi" Clint spoke as he ran towards me ducking underneath the shots.
I panic my eyes darting around the room looking for any more of the mafia but that was when I saw her. Yelena. She was here, here to murder Clint.
"Dad you need to go" I said.
He looked over my shoulder to see Yelena who thankfully hadn't spotted yet. Clint nodded and gripped his bow sprinting towards the elevators on the opposite side of the ballroom.
I stood up gathering all the courage I could before marching over to Yelena.
"Ah Y/n Barton there you are" Yelena greeted my briefly heading towards the elevator.
"Enjoying the party huh" I said jogging to catch up with her.
"Eh not too bad" She spoke.
Kate ran out of the kitchen and stood in front of the elevator blocking Yelena.
"Ah Kate Bishop you're here too how wonderful" Yelena said.
"I knew you were chummy with my mother but I didn't know you were on the invite list" Kate joked.
"I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to kill Clint Barton" She shrugged nonchalantly.
"You don't even know what floor he's on" Kate scoffed.
Yelena looked up watching the numbers displaying which floor the elevator was eventually stop.
"Now I do" She said.
The elevator door opened and she shoved Kate out of the way a sudden feeling of protectiveness washing over me.
"Don't get in my way" Yelena scoffed.
Kate looked at me almost for approval and I nodded, Kate snuck into the elevator just as it closed.
"I'll meet you downstairs" I said just as the doors closed Kate giving me a nod.
I sighed running towards the entrance where Grills and the rest of the guild were trying to guide the civilians away from the fight. Unfortunately snobby rich people hate listening to others.
I muttered a few curses pulling off my suit to reveal my suit underneath, it was the uniform the guild had crafted us. My dad and I practically matching which he was definitely thrilled about.
"They won't listen" Grills complained.
I groaned marching over to them in my uniform.
"Hey this way c'mon get out of here!" I shouted showing them the way out.
Thankfully a few listened noticing my uniform and instantly listening.
"Do you have your uniforms?" I questioned.
Their faces all light up and they nodded pulling off their suits to reveal their medieval type amour. Surprisingly after we were all dressed up they started to listen.
I heard shouts from above and I glanced up to see Kate falling from the building.
"Kate!" I shouted out.
She was attached to a wire one most likely placed there by Yelena but unfortunately this was not slowing down her fall. My instincts took over and I ran backwards so I was underneath her. Kate let out a scream as she neared closer and closer to the ground.
I took in a deep breath and caught her before she hit the ground, Kate let out a shaky breath and grabbed my shirt as she stood up.
"Thank you, oh my god that was fucking terrifying" Kate said.
"It's ok I've got you" I replied helping her up.
"A little help!" Clint shouted through the comms interrupting our moment.
Kate pulled away, my hand resting on the small of her back.
I held back a laugh as I spotted my dad stuck in the Rockefeller tree.
"Need some help dad?" I laughed.
"No don't you dare do anything I'll get out of this myself" He shouted.
I looked over to Kate who already had her bow held up to shoot the tree down.
"No! Kate don't you dare" Clint shouted.
We could see him struggle in the tree. Kate pulled back the bow shooting out one of the ropes supporting it making the tree go on a lean.
"3...2...1, timber" Kate said as she shot out the final support.
Clint screamed as the tree plummeted towards the ground.
"Nice job" I said.
"You think I should become a lumberjack" Kate joked.
"I bet you'd look hot in a flannel and overalls" I smirked.
"After this is over I'll put one on just for you" Kate winked sending heat through my body.
She would be the death of me.
