House of Impasse

Fabian's POV

We all watch as Victor stares at us and all I can think of is, how did he get in here, how did he find out what the code was and that it was on the bookcase. Then we all hear it.

"To those who've trespassed where they do not belong,""the beacon of light is your morning song. Your eyes shall not see. All shall be dark until Ra completes his blazing arc."

I look at the others and we all wave our hands in front of our eyes. We realised that he had been blinded by the light like Amber had so he couldn't see us. He then starts waving his hands trying to find anything solid to grab onto. We all start ducking and moving trying to get out of Victors way. Patricia moves and falls back into one of the chairs, Amber and Alfie fall back on the sofa and me and Nina move up against the wall, she is standing against the bookcase and I pull a chair out of the way but Nina trips over it.

Victor" Who's there?"

I reach to push the button so the bookcase slides open. Victor waves his hands in front of mine and Nina's faces before stumbling out of the study, leaving the bookcase to slide back into it's slot.  I usher for everyone to be quiet as I peep through the peephole. I breathe a sigh of relief as Victor slowly makes his way upstairs.

Fabian" We are all good"

Amber and Alfie lean back on the couch and Patricia sighs.

Patricia" That was way too close"

Fabian" I don't know how Victor got in here but this amulets are not safe here, we are going to have to take them with us"

Nina" We better get back to our rooms"

We all crawl back through the oven passageway and we all hear voices but the who else could it be. It sounded like Victor and Vera. Vera and him were talking about his loss of sight. We watch as she lays him on the sofa and its a cold compress on his eyes. Since Vera has her back to us we all make our way upstairs. Once the door is shut Amber opens her mouth.

Amber "Oh, it's so good to make noise again."

Alfie"But don't be afraid to not,"

Nina" How did Victor get in there?"

Fabian" Well, let's not panic yet,"he's only seen the antechamber."

Patricia" And he can't get through to the tunnels,"  

Fabian" These Amulets are not safe in our rooms"

Nina"Then we'll hide them, in the one place he won't search"

I wasn't the only one who was confused but then I saw her put it around her neck and it makes sense. So we all do the same.

Amber "I'm sorry, but I can't wear two, "I will look like a rapper."

Nina "What about the dollhouse?"

She then slips the spare amulet into the dollhouse drawer.

Patricia" Well now what, we still need to get across the beam"

Fabian" Yeah well we can't go back tonight it's just too risky"

Nina" We can go first thing before everyone else gets up"

Charlie's POV

I'm not usually an early bird but Patricia was making so much noise, if she was trying to sneak out she wasn't doing a good job. I peeked at her, she was getting ready in a hurry, she then snatched some sort of necklace off the table and put it around her neck. I closed my eyes again when she turned around. She left the room and I looked at my watch. It was 6 in the morning. Where on earth do you go at 6 in the morning.
