A Tale of Two Stans: Part 3

Grace's p.o.v.

"Many long nights were spent perfecting the machine, it would be the crowning achievement of our dreams: an answer to the source of this town's anomalies. The time had come to test it."

Ford and Fiddleford approach the portal with the dummy while I was in the lab watching through the glass and keeping an eye on all on all the machines. They let go of the dummy when Fiddleford was pulled with it, the rope had wrapped itself around his wrist. Quickly Ford pulls him out of the portal with the rope and I rush out and look over him, his eyes were dilated and he was twitching.

"What is it? Is it working? What did you see?" Ford asks when he starts speaking backwards and I start snapping my fingers in his face. "Fiddleford can you hear us?" I ask when he responds with something concerning. 

"When gravity falls and Earth becomes sky, fear the beast with just one eye." "Fiddleford get a hold of yourself you're not making sense," Ford says, grabbing his shoulder and he quickly pulls away stating "This machine is dangerous, you'll bring about the end of the world with this. Destroy it before it destroys us all!" "What, why? What happened?" I tried to ask before Ford starts to argue. "What? No! We can't destroy this, it's our life's work!" "I fear we've released a great danger on the world, one I just as soon forget, I quit!" He storms off leaving us staring at him with disbelief and confusion. "Fine! We'll do it without you, we don't need you, all we need is each other!" Ford shouts.

"We were in over our heads and feared we were slowly losing our sanity and not willing to put (y/n) at risk we needed help from someone we could trust."

Grunkle Stan's p.o.v.

I sat in my motel room unsure of where to go from here when I hear a knock on my door and I grab the bat. "Just give me a few more days Rico I'll pay your goons back I swear!" A postcard goes through my mail slot and I peek out to see the mailman. Picking up the card I noticed it was from a town I'd never heard of. Gravity Falls, it read 'PLEASE COME- Ford and Grace.

It had taken a couple of hours but finally, as I trudged through the snow I see Ford and Grace's house, it was all boarded up, and keep out signs littered all over. "You haven't seen your brother or his girlfriend for over fifteen years, it's ok, they're family they won't bite," I mutter to myself before knocking on the door.

 I'm met with a tip of an arrow in my face from a crossbow and Ford shouting "Who is it?! Have you come to steal my eyes?!" "Well, I can always count on you for a warm welcome," I droll after the initial shock washes away.

"Stanley, did anyone follow you? Anyone at all?" I roll my eyes. "Eh, hello to you too pal ah!" He pulls me close and shines a light in my eyes before I push him back. "Hey! What is this?!" "Sorry I just had to make sure you weren't- it's nothing, come in, come in," We walk into the house and I see a bunch of crazy stuff as I ask "Look are you gonna explain what's going on here? You're acting like Mom on her tenth cup of coffee." "Stanford who was at the door?" I hear Grace ask as she walks in with a seven-year-old girl behind her.

"Stanley? It's good to see you again," She says before quickly hugging me. "Wait a minute did you two finally tie the knot and have a kid and you're just now telling me about it?" I ask, annoyance laced in my voice and she shakes her head. "What? No, we're not married and this is (m/n)'s kid: (y/n). Anyways, Ford, I'm going to take you know what and hide it, I'm taking (y/n) with me too."

"Ok, I'll explain things to Stanley," The two talk before pecking each other and the two leave, leaving me with my brother. "Listen, there isn't much time, I've made huge mistakes and besides Grace and (y/n) I don't know who I can trust anymore." "Hey, easy there, let's talk this through ok?"

I try to reassure him and he admits he has something to show me. "Look I've been around the world ok? Whatever it is, I'll understand," I'm taken to see the underground lab, more specifically a huge triangle-looking machine. "There is nothing about this I understand."
