The Stanchurian Candidate: Part 3

It was Wednesday which means today is the General Stumpston Mayoral Speeches part of the election. It was currently Tyler's turn to speak, not gonna lie it was a good one. "Education? Get it. Prosperity? Get it. A Gravity Falls we can be proud of? Get it!" He finishes and the people clap, Grunkle Stan complaining to the twins about the tie they got him. "I really have to wear this thing? It looks like a flag threw up on me." "Grunkle Stan, just trust your lucky tie," Mabel reassures him when he's called onto the stage.

As he walks up I stop him for a minute and whisper "Good luck Grunkle Stan," He gives me a smile and pats my head before heading out from the curtain, Mabel and Dipper joining me in peeking behind the curtain, though, Mabel's black and blue tie did catch my attention, before I could ask her about it Stan starts his speech. "Hiya there! Stan Pines here. Let's get real, do you think the women of Gravity Falls wears too much make-up?" I wince and hear Dipper whisper to Mabel "Jump in, jump in!" I turn and look at them with a raised eyebrow as Mabel starts speaking when I hear what she says also come out of Stan's mouth, I look back at Stan, confusion written on my face.

"What I meant to say was you ladies all look great and have you done something with your hair? Girl, you are workin' it~" The women start chattering happily as he introduces himself. "I'm Stan Pines, you may know me as that guy who accidentally let all those bees lose in that elementary school a few years back-"  

He jolts for a minute, worrying me before he continues. "But I believe in things: America, freedom, Amer-freedom! Like my opponent pointed out, I may not have a pretty face but if you want a candidate that'll listen to you well I'm proud to be all ears," The crowd starts mumbling and I stare at him confused, that wasn't his speech, I turn around to voice my concerns to the twins to see Dipper passing back the black and blue tie and she starts dancing, Stan dancing the exact same way and I suddenly get it, they were controlling Stan so he would win. 

After a moment Stan walks from behind the curtain and Mabel hugs him exclaiming "Grunkle Stan that was amazing!" "Yeah! How'd you do it, Mr. Pines?" Soos asked and he shrugged. "I dunno, I just opened my mouth and spoke from the heart or gut or something. What is that sound? Why are people jamming their hands together?" He asks and I tell him "It's applause, Grunkle Stan they love you!" I play along, for now, to keep Grunkle Stan happy but the next chance I get I am questioning the twins. "Love me?" He asks peeking behind the curtains to find the crowd chanting for him. "There he is! Mr. Pines, can we get a picture?" Toby asks and Stan brings us close as we all shout in unison "Yes we Stan!"

Later I approached the twins and asked them about the tie. "So either of you want to tell me why you decided to control Stan and not tell me?" "Because we knew you wouldn't go along with it," Mabel quickly answers and I raise an eyebrow with a look. "(y/n) it's just that with the way Stan is he's never gonna win unless we step in and we have to prevent Bud from winning." "Stopping Bud from winning...Is that all you care about? I asked you guys to help support him, not control him!"

I argue and Dipper grabs my shoulder reassuringly as he tells me "We do support him but we can't let Bud win besides this way we can make sure he wins which will make him happy right?" I still give an unsure look, I think this is more than winning the election but he has been in a good mood recently. "Look it's not hurting anyone and as long as he doesn't know he can win and be the mayor and we prevented Bud from doing whatever he's planning," Mabel chimes in and I sigh. "It's not like I can stop you," The next day multiple reports of Stan came out impressing the lumberjacks, the elderly, and even the beavers. The town had claimed he was taking the lead.
