Bizarre equipment she had never seen in her life. All very unusual looking. Ga-eun furrowed her brows looking around in confusion. Out of pure curiosity she began picking up the items. Running over to the telephone she brushed her finger tips on it like it was some sort of fragile item.
Inquisitive eyes, seeking to find out what in the world it was. She picking it up placing the phone on her head, the curved part on top of her head balancing in.
Jeno smiled from afar letting out the curves of his eyes as he resting his head on his palm that was placed on the armchair of the sofa. He found her peculiar behaviour adorable. A low vibration radiated out of him as she chuckled while shaking his head. "That's a telephone" he stated catching her attention. "Telfone?"
"No no no" he shook his head at her attempt to say the word. It was as if he was teaching an infant to talk. "T-e-l-e-p-h-o-n-e . . . tele-phone" he slowly spoke out making her nod cutely. "Telephone" she repeated making the boy give her a proud clap. She was confused as to how he knew what this unfamiliar item was when she herself never seen it in her life. However before she could even question the girls thoughts cut off.
"What are you doing?" the older lady questioned eyeing the object Ga-eun was holding in her hand. Gasping she gently placed it down bowing to her as an apology for snooping around, holding her belongings.
But to her surprise she wasn't mad. Instead she laughed gesturing her to sit down next to Jeno as she placed two cups of coffee on the small table in front of the sofas. In all honesty it astonished how the old ladies personality took a abnormal turn, contrasting her inhospitable behaviour near the beginning of their meeting.
After seating down herself she gave a regretful look to the two youngsters. "I'm sorry for how I behaved before. Recently I've been getting random people knocking on my door advertising their old age homes." she sighed. "I've lost my patience and thought you were here for the same reason"
"No no its ok" Jeno reassured waving his hands in front of him. Just like Ga-eun he was surprised by her softened tone of voice and gentle behaviour. Which completely opposed her mannerism that she displayed in front of her house.
Humming she pointed a finger towards Jeno. "I'm guessing you young boy are not from here" instantly he shot his head up like a Meera cat. "How?" he quietly spoke out. More to himself questioned how on earth she was able to tell. Putting on a proud smile, the old lady slowly leaned her back to the chair.
"Well if Yesung sent you to me then it's definitely to do with the magic, extraordinary wonders of our universe" she slowly looked away to them from staring at the ceiling. "I'm initially from Narva, lived in Ezio my whole life but I once visited Seoul . .Hmm around 47 years ago" Ga eun's lips etched into a smile glad to hear that there was someone who visited the place where Jeno was originally from. However, she couldn't get her head around what she meant by magic, extraordinary wonders of our universe.
What is she on about?
"It was an amazing experience learning about a whole other universe. Watching how different things are from there and here. It still mind-blowing." sighing she glanced towards Jeno. Ga-euns heart thumped erratically by what she just heard. Whole other universe. She clenched her teeth feeling her lungs contract not taking in her life source. She felt like her whole body freeze up trying to take in everything she just heard. It was too overwhelming.
"I knew that you must've had a question about this specific topic. After all my son-in-law sent you to me. It obviously would be due to no other reason. When he came to Narva, Yesung didn't know a thing but then I saw him on the streets vigorously hitting his phone. Even though I've never seen the new technology that had been developed in your world now, I knew that it was definitely not from here. That's how I met him." immediately her smile faded and she rubbed her forehead aggressively. "Then that idiot fell in love with my daughter and had a child. He ended up staying here."
"Ummm . . ." not entirely sure as to how to respond he slowly looked over Ga-eun giving a awkward expression. However, he noticed how she seemed out of it not even paying attention properly. Staring into space, her mind was plagued by the miraculous thing that she felt like she was not meant to hear. He was about to place his hand on her shoulder to ask what was wrong but then he understood immediately. She's having a hard time digesting the sudden illogical information.
"I'm guessing you young boy are from Seoul" Jeno shot his head to the side astounded by her observation. "How did you know?"
With a proud look she raised her chin leaning her back gently onto the sofa. "This young lady was snooping around touching the items from your world with fascination. She is obviously from here. It was hard to not miss" Ga eun glanced up with an unreadable expression. But pushing back her annoyance that was building within she gave a apologetic look, guilty for prying around. "So what is it that you need from me?"
Clearing his throat Jeno leaned moved a little forward on the sofa. "I want to go back but I don't know how" nodding her head she sighed. "What's your name child?"
"Lee Jeno"
"Well Jeno you can't choose when to leave and when not to. Its all by chance and luck. Your playing with mother nature here child."
"What do you mean by that?" he did not understand what she was trying to convey. It made no sense.
"You see the gates between our worlds only open when there is a glitch between our universes. That glitch only occurs on a full moon. But the portal only opens up if there is a thunderstorm on the day of the full moon. You have to wait until that day comes" Hearing this information, Jeno's heart sank into black hole of depression. "Does that mean I'm stuck here until then. That could be forever!"
"I know child but that's how it works." he gritted his teeth feeling irritation raging through him. "So your telling me that I can be stuck here for months or even years until that day comes" he tried his best to speak in a calm tone and refrain from bursting out in anger.
"Unfortunately yes" gulping down the lump that consumed up at his throat, he ran his hand over his face.
Devastated
He couldn't find another word to describe his current emotions. Except for being devastated.
Standing up he bowed respectfully to the older lady. "Thank you for your help" Though he tried to look fine she was able to notice his sullen tone within his voice.
Giving a sad smile she replied a faint . . .
"It's ok"
