Chapter 09

"Kain muna tayo, gusto mo ba?" He asked. I mind math how much money I got left. Tapos hindi ko pa alam kung saan n'ya balak kumain. Malay ko ba mamaya elite pala 'to si Calvin. Taga Westhills tapos Green Valleys e. Kung di ako scholar, siguro wala kami ni Charles sa Westhills. Pero sabagay, may life savings naman kami. We're planned children that's why I'm grateful for the life my parents gave us.

"You don't want to eat?" Calvin asked because it took me so long to respond. I'm actually hungry but I don't have that much money.

"Kinekwenta ko pa pera ko" sabi ko "Kung magkulang ba papautangin mo'ko?"

His lips parted and he hid a small smile. Tapos nag iwas siya ng tingin. Bakit? Di n'ya pa ako papautangin? Muka naman s'yang mayaman. May kotse kaya siya.

"It's on me" he said. Magdidilim na. It was nightfall. But I could see he offered hands so I could stand up from the grass where we sat.

Tatanggapin ko ba? Wait. Does social protocol indicates that if you accepted a stranger hands, you'll accept their offer? Pero teka.. libre n'ya naman daw ako diba?

I took a deep breath and accepted his hands  so I could stand. I slightly closed my eyes.

He has warm hands but I was too distracted to mind compute to even notice that I held his hands.

He let go of my hands at nagpagpag ako "To make you feel better, let's just eat Army Navy.. okay?"

Nanlaki ang mata ko. Army Navy is already a luxury to me. Hindi ako madalas kumain d'on dahil mahal.

"How about McDo?" I suggested. Baka mamaya naiwan n'ya pala ang wallet n'ya mukang di ako makakapag tapong at kung makapag tapong man, hindi bumalik kasi nakakahiya maningil.

He chuckled "Why?"

"Mahal sa Army Navy e" I shrugged

"Okay. Mcdo it is"

We're walking towards the car and I'm behind him. Unlike Andrew who's annoyed every time I'm behind, Calvin literally stopped— took a step backward and there we go, we're walking side by side. I didn't say anything about it.

I hid a smile because finally, someone adjusted with my walk instead of complaining about it.

I have no idea why, pero nasanay na akong hindi sumabay sa paglalakad. Sanay rin akong yumuyuko madalas. Maybe it's a mannerism or what.

Calvin opened the door for me. It felt weird. I don't know what to react but my hair saved me because the night wind's blowing already. It blew my face and I just fixed it before entering his car. His familiar scent was all over the place.

"Drive thru, right?"

I creased my forehead "Why'd you ask? It's up to you"

"I'm just asking since I figured you're not comfortable with crowds" he says as he start the car "But if it's weird for you to be alone with me I understand"

I really don't mind where how or what. But I'm impressed that he thought about that. He's really considerate with my feelings. Taking my comfort into account.

He's a kind soul, is he.

"Okay" I said

"Okay what? I'm sorry" He said

"Drive Thru" I looked straight to the road

We moved in a smooth pace. I get to choose the music. I didn't really asked what he like. Sabi n'ya ako daw ang pumili e. I have no idea on what kind of music he's into.
