Chapter 13

"Ano bibilhin mo ba?" Tanong ko kay Yani nang makarating kami sa National Bookstore

"Eto" turo n'ya sa set ng color pencil "Matagal ko na pinag i-ipunan 'to. Kaya nga di ko mabigyan ng 50 pesos si Reign e"

Mahilig mag drawing si Yani. Her artworks really are something. She's really passionate about art. Si Reign at Charles naman ay mahilig sa music. Ako lang talaga ata ang hindi talented sa pamilyang ito.

We let Yani decide what she would like to buy. Nakatayo kami ni Calvin sa isang aisle ng mga libro. Nagtitingin tingin ako.

"She really likes art" I told her. She was extra energetic around the art materials.

"Yeah. I figured" he said "How about you? Anong hobby mo?"

"Uhh.. reading?" I pointed out the books around us "I don't really have talent. Yani likes art. My brothers likes music.."

"Bakit di n'yo kasama ang brother n'yo?" Tanong ko

"Ah nag away si Reign at si Yani kanina. Tapos yung kambal 'ko.. di ko alam kung nasaan"

"Huh? Bakit nag away?"

"Walang kwentang bagay. Humihingi 50 pesos si Reign dahil kulang ang sa food delivery tapos ayaw bigyan ni Yani kasi eto pala.. bibili s'ya art materials" sabi ko "Petty, right?"

"Ilan taon na ba si Reign?"

"10" I said "Yani is 14"

"I think it's not petty they're still kids" he said. He's really nice 'no.. pag kasama mo s'ya di mo mararamdaman na anak s'ya ng bilyonaryo.

"Well, our parents trained us to be independent you know, do assigned responsibilities... manage money, do things on our own"

"That's really nice. I noticed that about you. You seemed to be highly independent" sabi n'ya "Also.. you told me panganay ka, it must be tough"

"Yeah palagi akong inuutangan" sabi ko

Binibigyan kami ng sarili namin allowance buwan buwan.. saka lang kami pede humingi ng extra pag sobrang  emergency.. kasi may emergency fund kami kada taon. Kaya 'yun utangan palagi mga kapatid 'kong gastador. Sakin palagi lumalapit ang mga kapatid ko.

He chuckled "Let me guess.. hindi mo pinapautang"

"Oo.. may allowance naman sila. Mag tipid sila. Ikaw ba may allowance ka kada b'wan?" Muntik na ako mapasapo sa noo. Anak nga pala ng bilyonaryo ang kausap ko. Nakalimutan ko na naman.

"I have a card" that's what he said "I control my expenses pero napagastos ako nang madami this month dahil maglilipat ako sa apartment"

"Are you okay with being alone?" I asked. He looked at my eyes. Hindi ko matukoy ang nararamdaman n'ya.. para bang andami niyang gusto sabihin.. parang ang dami n'yang saloobin. Pero hindi n'ya masabi.

"I'm grew up alone" he said "Only child.. and my parents are busy with work.. I mean we have helpers, but some of them just leave and go. Siguro that's why I have a lot of friends, I long for the sense of belongingness, the feeling of family"

That's really sad.

Siguro iyon ang pinagkaiba namin ni Calvin. Calvin has a lot of friends because he lack the sense of belongingness that could only be fulfilled by a family. Meanwhile, I'm already sufficient with that aspect that's why I don't long for many friends.
