Chapter 44

"I went to the doctor for medical clearance" Ngayon lang nagkaron ng enerhiya si Jade para ikwento ang nangyari "Then.. then I found out that baby had not developed normally"

Silence. Calvin's caressing my arms to calm me down while we are listening to Jade... who broke down in front of us for basically an hour.

"I went for advanced ultrasonography and amniocentesis. My.. My poor child had Trisomy 13" sabi niya. I hear a loud wailing and sobs. Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya hinawakan niya yun nang mahigpit pabalik "My child did not develop a brain... or a feet.. she has multiple organ issues"

Tumulo ang luha ko. Lalong lalo na nung makita ko kung paano nahirapan si Jade.

"I.. I did not continue the pregnancy" sabi ko. Doon bumagsak ang luha ko "If I continued it... my child would have severe abnormalities... seizure and would not enjoy life as it is. I would watch my baby's difficulty... I would be so heartbroken. So I opted.. protection. I chose to abort my baby"

Rinig ko ang malakas nyang pag iyak. Napayuko ako sa tuloy tuloy na pagbagsak ng luha ko. Calvin held my hand.

"I did all those decision without Charles" sabi niya "That's why.. he left when he learned . I took the nearest flight but I couldn't contact him"

Si Charles.. si Charles.

"Let's find Charles" tumayo ako at sinabi yun kay Calvin. Tumayo naman din siya... pero pagkatayo nya ay nag ring ang phone niya.

"Hello?" He answered "What? Really?" Gulat na tanong niya "Sorry I couldn't come" he looked at me "Susunod nalang ako... I'll go there once I'm free.. Okay.. Bye"

"What was that?" Tanong ko

"Ava's father died" he said

Natigilan ako "Does she need you?"

Tumigil muna siya bago sumagot "I don't think so love. All of our other friends are there"

"And you?" Tanong ko

"You need me" sabi niya "Let's find Charles first, okay? Afterwards, I'll immediately go there"

"Cal" I hold his arms "I think Ava needs you"

He sighed "Love I promise you.. I'll go there. Let's just find Charles for now"

Siya din ang nanalo saamin kaya wala akong choice. Una naming pinuntahan yung dating apartment pero walang tao talaga dun... sunod, yung pinagt-trabahuhan niya. Pero wala din. Nag double check ulit kami sa bahay kaso na stuck pa kami nang onti nang makita ni Yani si Jade. Dinaldal niya ito nang sobra pero nagawan ko siya ng paraang itakas. Biglang pumasok sa isip ko na tawagan si Andrew pero di siya sumasagot.

"Punta tayo kay Andrew" sabi ko. Agad naman akong sinunod ni Calvin. Nakahinga ako ng maluwag nang makita si Charles at si Andrew sa gilid ng kalsada. Nag iinom sila sa tapat ng lote na walang nakatayong bahay.

"Charles" tawag ko sa kaniya. Tinignan niya ako. His eyes was red and he looked like he cried a lot. I immediately ran to hug him. Ramdam ko ang panlalambot n'ya at ang paghikbi sa balikat ko. Nagbadya din ang pagtulo ng luha ko dahil ramdam ko ang sakit na nararamdaman niya.

Tumigil siya sa pag iyak kaya kumalas ako. His eyes was locked on Jade he now noticed.

"What are you doing here?" He was so dead serious.

Jade sighed "I was looking for you"

"Fuck it. Stop acting like you care about me because you don't!" Nabigla ako sa pagtaas ng boses niya. Buti nalang walang tao sa paligid...
