CHAPTER 27

GULAT na napatingin sa kaniya si Poseidon nang mamataan siya sa labas mismo ng pinto. Mabagal pa itong napatingin kay Lorelei na nakahiga na sa kama habang ang mga bote ng alak ay nakakalat sa sahig.

She was about to speak but Poseidon spilled the beans first.

"It is not what you think it is." Depensa nito sa sarili at akmang hahawakan niya ngunit inilayo niya ang kamay. "Ream, I can explain.

"I heard enough." Pagpigil niya rito. Umupo siya sa pang-isahang sofa na malapit sa pinto at tumawa nang malakas. "I got worried for fucking nothing."

"What?" He was caught-off guard by her attitude. Kahit sino naman siguro ay magugulat sa inakto niya. Well, she feels stupid for being an overthinker.

"I heard everything. Don't worry." Itinaas niya pa ang kanang kamay para patigilin ito sa pagsasalita. "I thought you were a thing."

"We're not. She likes you. Obviously. From what you heard." He said while chuckling as he closed the door. "I didn't know how to say that to you from that night because Lorelei keeps on bothering me about you."

"Well, I like someone else." Tinignan niya ang kuko habang hinihintay ang sagot nito.

Someone who I can't end up with. Not with this mystery that I am eager to solve.

"Oh. You do?" Isang malungkot na ngiti ang ipinakita nito sa kaniya. "Good for him."

"Yes. And I think, it is the best for us to stop seeing each other. It's for the best." She bluntly said and smiled. Kahit pa gaano niya kagusto ang lalaking nasa harap niya, otomatikong napapalitan iyon ng takot. Ito naman talaga ang pakay niya. Pagkatapos ng pag-uusap nila ni Ria, napagtanto niya na kung hahayaan niya ang sarili na piliin ang gusto ng puso niya, mapapahamak naman ang mga nakapaligid sa kaniya. "I will be migrating somewhere else next 3 months. I want to start anew."

"What? Why is this all of a sudden?" Hindi makapaniwalang saad ni Poseidon at lumapit sa kaniya.

This is not all of a sudden after all. She has been thinking about this for the past three months.

"I just want to be away from everyone for a while." Malungkot niyang sagot. Kahit pa napamahal na siya sa mga kaibigan o di kaya'y maiiwan niya si Xaia, hindi niya maalis sa isip na may posibilidad na ang nakaharap nila dati ang puno't-dulo nito. "I hope you'll respect my decision. I'll appoint a new CEO. Probably, Siri's brother. Or maybe, your sister. I don't know."

"Ream, you built your company from scratch. Why now? Don't you think that you decision is too impulsive?" Pilit ang tono ng boses nito na nagmamakaawa sa kaniya. "If you're going to migrate, then you'll call us, right? Or maybe, I can visit you from time to time?"

"You don't have to, Sei. I just want to make peace for myself. To heal from everything."

And to find the people who are behind this.

"I can't understand, Ream. Is this something about the reason why you were blaming yourself?" Nang-aalong saad nito sa kaniya. Lumuhod ito sa harapan niya at marahang hinawakan ang kaniyang mga kamay. "Ream, I can't understand a thing. How can I help you if you won't say something about it? I'm frustrated." Inilapit nito ang dalawang kamay sa mukha. "It feels awful because I can't help you. I feel useless, Ream. Don't face it alone. You have me."

"Can we kiss?" Nakangiti niyang tanong na ikinagulat naman nito. "Well, I kissed a girl earlier for her birthday but,"

Poseidon stopped her from talking by kissing her. Deeply and passionate. The way his lips landed on hers feels like fireworks booming on her stomach. His hands snaked on her nape, dominating her. He pushed her hard enough for her to fall for the deep horizon of his passionate love.
