Kenma didn't like the dark. Things can hide in the dark.

He'd been on his way home from his company, looking forward to seeing his fiance. They'd had a meeting and it took too long. Kenma was getting nervous.

The streetlamps were the only light, and someone had been following him for almost ten minutes now. He'd made several turns to check.

He pulled out his phone, dialing the familiar number.

"Hey Kitten!"

"Kuroo."

"Kuroo."

The tone was off.

"What's wrong?"

A small exhale. Kuroo's heart sped up. Something was very, very wrong.

"Hey, um...you followed me right?"

"What?"

"Right? You said you'd follow me."

Kenma had no clue how normal he sounded, but he needed to get the point across to Kuroo.

"Kenma, are you okay?"

"No."

Kuroo had no clue what was going on, but that answer was clear.

"What's wrong?"

"Oh wait. You didn't follow me. Someone else did."

Oh. Oh. Oh shit, he got it now.

"You're being followed?"

Kenma let out a small sigh of relief.

"Yeah. I only got the notification like ten minutes ago."

Kenma turned a corner, checked behind him in a car mirror.

"Its still there though."

Kuroo grabbed his keys and slipped on his shoes.

"How many people?" He asked.

"There's only one right now. We can go together after I get back."

"Okay, I'm on my way, where are you?"

Kenma looked around for a street sign. Nothing, but he was close to something else.

"Yeah, Akaashi's work."

"Okay. Stay on the line Kenma, I'll be there in five minutes."

Kenma looked behind him again. The guy was closer.

"Hurry."

He heard quick footsteps behind him and sped up. The next time he spoke, his voice was panicked.

"Kuroo, he's getting closer."

"I'm almost there, hang on."

Panic rose in Kenma's chest.

"Kuroo-"

A sharp pain went through his head, and he lost his balance. A hand grabbed his wrist, and he yelled.

Another sharp pain made everything go black.

When Kenma woke up, he registered two things.

One, he couldn't move, which didn't help the rising panic.

Two, it was dark. Very dark.

"You're awake."
