"Um Matt...There's a baby at your doorstep."

"Foggy, I'm blind not stupid." Matthew chuckled as he got up from the couch to walk over to his friend who was standing at the door staring at the ground. When Matt heard Foggy's heart rate pick up he knew it was something serious, there in fact was a baby on his doorstep.

"There's a note!" Foggy exclaimed awkwardly grabbing the paper attached to the baby's car seat. "Excuse me...I'm just gonna grab that." The blonde man muttered.

"Dear Matt. Okay I gotta stop right there, who writes a letter to a blind man?" Foggy asked making Matt glare at him. "Just read it Foggy."

"Dear Matt, I know this is a little hard to hear but after our night together...well you can guess. She's yours, attached is her birth certificate and everything you'll need. Keep her or don't, I just can't be a mother yet, I'm sorry but I know you're a good man so I wanted to give you the chance to at least meet her. Thank you, Cathrine. Dude Catherine Adams? From school!" Foggy exclaimed as he finished the letter but Matt wasn't even listening. Instead he was listening to the tiny heartbeat of the baby—his daughter sitting in her car seat. Her even breathing telling him that she was peacefully asleep.

"Man are you okay? This is crazy?" Foggy asked watching as Matt leaned down and grabbed the car seat pulling the girl into the apartment and closing the door.

"I uh... I don't know, hey man. Just go to the store and pick up some stuff okay." Matt replied his mind in a far away place as he pulled his entire wallet out and put into Foggy's hand. The blonde agreed rushing out of the apartment quickly.

"What the hell." Matt whispered as he collapsed onto the couch and set his daughter onto the table in front of him. A million thoughts racing through his head, a one night stand with a girl from college led to the sleeping little angle in front of him. Was he ready to be a father? He sure didn't feel ready, he had just graduated law school and was living in a shithole with his best friend.

The sound of the girl crying snapped the man out of his daze, carefully Matthew felt around her car seat and managed to awkwardly pull the crying girl into his arms.

"Hey, it's okay. You're alright." The man cooed as he held her against his body, swaying slightly. The girl didn't stop crying though, he could hear her heart beating quickly the sound making him nervous.

"Sweet girl, you're alright. You're safe, I promise." Matt whispered softly his pointer finger trailed across her forehead and then down her nose, the man blowing gently on her face as he did so. The girl let out a soft gasped eyes opening and her crying stopped.
