"Wilson Fucking Fisk."December 2024
Cecilia groaned from under the covers of her childhood bed, her head was throbbing, and her ribs were searing with a white-hot pain that made her slightly nauseous. She knew her back was sore from the assassin throwing her off the roof and only behind connected by a chain around her belt, she was sure Kate was waking up with similar pain.
Kate, Cecilia was curious as to how her friend was handling the events of the previous night, not only had they learned something completely unnerving about the woman on the roof but she had been cast away by her hero.
Someone had hired Natasha's sister to kill Clint Barton, and there wasn't a doubt in Cecilia's mind that she was capable of it. It was the question of would Clint allow his guilt to cloud his mind and let this woman do it?
Kate disagreed with everything in her that Clint was the cause of Natasha's death, and although Cecilia would have liked to believe that she could tell that something wasn't right about the situation.
Natasha's sister believed that he was the reason she was dead, Cecilia could tell by her steady heartbeat and her even tone. There was no doubt in her mind that he was responsible, and that made her think of how Clint spoke about Natasha.
He loved her, that much was clear by the pain and deep sorrow that radiated off of him when he had been talking to them about her. Except she knew that if they were partners and she had died, then he was carrying immense guilt. They were trying to save the world, and Natasha had died while doing it Cecilia was certain that she had 100 % faith that it was going to work.
Survivor's guilt, that's what Cecilia had originally thought it to be when she could see it in his tense shoulders, hear it in his voice and feel it in his pulse. The feeling that you shouldn't have been alive when someone you loved and cared for so deeply had died, that reveling in the glory of your success felt wrong because they weren't there to share it with you.
Cecilia knew that people who were driven by the loss of someone they loved rarely saw reason, they can't take the time to communicate the truth and what they're feeling because they're feeling too much. And they think that getting revenge will end that pain, but it doesn't. It only clouds your judgment and leaves you feeling empty.
Them meeting Natasha's sister wasn't the only thing running around Cecelia's mind, Maya had the names of her family, and she wanted to know why.
It didn't matter to her that Clint told them to stay out of this, he wasn't in charge of her and she didn't need anyone's permission to do the right thing, besides Maya knew who her family was and she wasn't going to let anything happen to them.
