"Cause I'll break their fucking hands."

December 2024

Cecilia Murdock found comfort in two things when she got beaten down and didn't feel like she could get back up, Religion and Meditation. Both were things her father had shown her, something they bonded over.

So as she knew she couldn't go to him since she had promised herself she could do it alone, Cecilia at least felt closer to him when she spent time with herself and her thoughts in a way only he could have shown her.

And because Christmas was nearing she knew the church would be full of people so she sat in her dark bedroom, her legs crossed and palms up. Her fingers curled in every now and then as she tried to clear her mind, to heal her body.

Yet she couldn't, painful memories flooded her mind, playing like a bad movie behind her eyelids. A moment from her childhood that changed the way she saw the world, the way she saw heroes.

Cecilia sat in between Karen and Foggy inside the police station, the young girl didn't exactly know what was happening, all she knew was that her dad was out there somewhere and a building had blown up.

At another table were Trish and Malcolm, friends of Jessica Jones, the blonde woman had spoken to Cecilia for only a few moments but that was all it took for her to realize she was exceptionally smart, especially for her young age.

Cecilia could tell from the tears in Karen's eyes and the guilty look all over Foggy's face that something was wrong, but before she got the chance to ask, Jessica Jones walked into the room.

The brunette woman went to Trish and Malcolm who welcomed her, Foggy and Karen stood up as Luke Cage and Claire followed her into the room. Cecilia stood in front of both of them, her hopeful young eyes inspecting each and every person who walked through that door.

Next were Danny Rand and Colleen, the blonde man the only one who could meet her eyes as he sat against the window. Cecilia stared at the empty doorway, praying to God that she would see her father's face walk through it next.

Except it seemed nobody was listening, her brown eyes filled with tears as she clutched her hands to her chest, she could hear Foggy and Karen hugging behind her but she couldn't move.

"Dad," The young girl whispered her bottom lip wobbling, her words seemed to echo in the silent room as the adults all looked at Cecilia like she was going to shatter. "D-dad?" She choked out squeezing her fists so tight her nails started to dig into the palm of her hand.
