"Sorry, all my presents got barbequed."

Christmas 2024

After sending Kate and Lucky home with Clint for the holidays Cecilia had managed to land herself on her father's couch. Her body was bloody, beaten, and still very much suit-clad but she didn't care, the bright light from the billboard across the street didn't even bother her as she closed her eyes and finally let sleep take over her.

Matt woke up a few hours later to the sound of his daughter's strained breathing. He could smell the dried blood and hear the shifting of injured bones but from what he could tell she was asleep. And he was right, she was passed out face first on his leather couch, one of her arms and legs hanging off the side as her messy hair stuck up every which way out of her braid.

"Cecilia, honey..." Matthew started as he went to sit on the coffee table across from the girl, his tone tender as he tried to wake her up. "Cece," Matt continued which only earned a groan as the 19-year-old flung her arm that was dangling out and managed to smack her father in the leg.

"Well, Merry Christmas to you too," He teased smiling as she pushed herself into a sitting position despite how much her body ached.

"Merry Christmas," She grumbled out rubbing at her eyes, it was early in the morning, she knew that. So that meant she only got a few hours of nightmare plagued sleep.

"Are okay enough to shower? Or do you have any injuries that need to be taken care of right now?" He asked in a more serious tone, Cecilia noticed the way his eyebrows rose and disappeared behind his disheveled hair.

"I'm fine, it's uh—it's done," Cecilia responded with a firm nod as she pushed herself into a standing position and headed towards the bathroom. Cecilia felt guilty about not telling her father about Fisk, but he disappeared and she was going to find him when he resurfaced. Matthew Murdock had purged his life of Wilson Fisk, he had repented for the wrongdoings that the man brought with him. And she had no right to dig that all up again, to show that the system had failed them once again due to the blip. That they had freed the monster Daredevil caged all those years ago.

Thankfully, Karen had brought over some clothes for Cecilia that weren't from high school, although it was a black evening dress for Christmas dinner.

She didn't mind them anymore, after living with Karen she had been shown the "girly" side of things. The side with special conditioner and dresses with pockets, it had changed her life for the better. Or at least the health of her hair. Her hair had been a disaster before she met Karen but the woman helped her figure it out and she had managed to tame the curls into beautiful silky ringlets.
