"It looks dorky."

May 2025

"It's pretty convenient you wear that under your clothes," Cecilia commented with a small smirk that was hidden behind her mask as she glanced towards Spider-Man who was perched next to her on a rooftop.

"Better than changing in back alleys, I learned that one the hard way," Peter replied dryly causing Cecilia to chuckle and shake her head before she looked across the street into the office of Curtis Connors. The man was sitting at his desk typing away on his computer, and Cecilia was sure that now was as good a time as any to go talk to him.

"Why don't you wear the helmet like your dad did?" Peter asked turning to look at the brunette who's hair was pulled back into a ponytail but he could see a few braids just like normal.

"Because I'm not blind, and I think it looks dorky," Cecilia replied not bothering to look away from the office. Peter had to stifle his laughter but he could tell by the way her eyes squinted that she too was smiling.

Cecilia's smile fell as she watched Connor's pick up his office phone and press it to his ear.

"Who do you think he's talking to?" Peter asked quietly, but it seemed she didn't need to question it as she tilted her head and closed her eyes. He watched as she listened to what was being said across the street in a completely different building.

They really weren't kidding when they said their senses were heightened. He just wondered to what extent she could hear, could she hear what was happening across the city? The state? He doubted that bit but he still wanted to know.

"We're going to need a new formula, the last one had some...undesired effects."

Cecilia knew that voice anywhere, the grating, indignant tone of Wilson Fisk.

"We need to get in there," Cecilia stated as she turned towards her partner and gestured towards the building. Peter nodded and without hesitation wrapped his arms around Cecilia's waist.

"Uh—what are you—"

Her question was answered when he used his web shooter to connect them to the building across the street before he started walking forward slightly dragging Cecilia with him as she stumbled to keep up.

"I'd pick up your feet and hold on if I were you," Peter responded causing the girl's eyes to widen before she wrapped her arms around his neck and lifted her legs up around his waist. Neither mentioned the awkward position they were in as Peter had jumped from the building they were standing on.

Peter could feel Cecilia's heart pounding in her chest as she held on even tighter when they were in the air. She squeezed her eyes shut and hoped for the best, that being that he didn't drop her and she ended up a pancake on the street below.

Once Peter had landed on the roof Cecilia planted her feet firmly on the ground before putting some distance between them. Her heart was pounding and her hair now a mess from the wind but they made it, and that's what mattered.

"I don't know how you do that," Cecilia huffed out as she placed her hands on her knees and sucked in deep breath.

"You'll get used to it, I'll take you somewhere fun next time," Peter replied quickly causing the girl to roll her eyes with a grin before she headed towards the rooftop door.
