We walked back into Casita and I gasped. Isabela must have been busy with the amount of flowers that decorated the main entryway. Pepa smiled and led me into the entryway. Felix and Augustin were excitedly chatting with Bruno, and elbowed him as we came inside.
"The dress will be ready in the morning." I said walking over.
"T-that's wonderful." Bruno stammered as Felix laughed and elbowed his side.
"What have you three been up to all morning?" I asked.
"Well, just hammering some things out for tomorrow." Felix winked.
"Mainly getting Bruno ready for the betrothal announcement. He's nervous about how quickly it's happening." Agustin smiled, tripping a bit on thin air. "He seems to forget that when we married into the family it was a similar situation."
"So this is normal." I said remembering that Julieta said something about only having a couple months to prepare.
"Si. Bruno had a vision of Pepa getting married and her interactions with mi familia, then boom!" Felix explained "Wedding bells two months later!"
"Mine and Julieta's was quite similar. Although it showed her chasing me with arepas." Agustin laughed.
"I still do that!" Julieta called as she exited the kitchen. "How was the dress shopping?"
"It went well, had to smooth some things over with the seamstress while Pepa coordinated color choices. And I had to go get a set of jewelry that I had originally planned to be sold in my vendor's shop." I held up the parcel in my hands, smiling. "It was extremely nice to be outside during the day, though. And Pepa made for great company."
Pepa smiled and Julieta caught my comment about being outside, although decided not to speak about it at the moment. Bruno on the other hand grabbed the parcel from my hands and pulled me close to him.
"I'm glad you had fun, mi amor."
"Bruno!" I giggled. "What are you doing?"
He gave a goofy smile and kissed my temple. "Honestly, I have no idea."
I smiled at him and put my head on his shoulder. "So, has anyone seen Alma?" I asked quietly, trying to see if maybe she chose not to try and teach me how to be a 'proper' Madrigal.
"Mama came down and made sure we were getting things in order while you were gone." Bruno said. "She seems rather excited to have you as part of the familia officially
Yeah, right. I thought.
"Okay, that's good then." I tried to hide the waver in my voice. "Are Bruno and I freed from betrothal duty until dinner?"
Everyone looked at each other and smiled. "I think the two of you are good to go until dinner." Julieta said with a smile.
"Ok, how about you walk with me back to my house, Bruno?"
"Weren't you just in town?" He asked surprised.
"Yes, but it gives us an excuse to talk and get you out of Casita. Plus, I need to change and get ready for tonight."
"Alright, alright." He smiled, setting my parcel on the ground, Casita moving it up to Bruno's door. "Time for a walk."
"Don't get him into too much trouble!" Pepa said with a jovial smirk.
"Who, me?" I said innocently.
"Just go, you two. We will see you at dinner." Julieta waved us out of Casita and Bruno took my hand.
