Felix caught up with me a few days after the argument Bruno and I had with Alma.

"Hey, hermana!" He said as I headed out for the day.

"Hola, hermano." I said as he fell into step beside me. "How is Pepita?"

"Pepi is doing alright. I actually wanted to thank you. You really helped after Alma confronted them." He said with a sad smile. The man didn't do much but look jovial, so the sadness made me do a double take.

"You good, Felix?" I asked. "As, well I hope you see me as a sister, but I really am a bit concerned."

"I do see you as a sister, don't worry about that. I'm just concerned about Dolores. Mi hija hasn't been the same since she heard the argument."

I nodded. I had noticed that she was quieter than usual, and looked at her abuela and tio with fear. "I think it scared her. I've never seen Bruno so mad, so absolutely livid. He," I put my hands up to my eyes to demonstrate how they glowed. "He got all glowy, which means he didn't have a great handle on his emotions."

"I honestly haven't seen him be anything else but, well Bruno." Felix nodded.

I understood what he meant. Bruno wasn't one to harbor ill intent, and the most negative emotion he felt was sadness. "I may have scared her as well." I said sadly.

"You actually didn't." Felix said shaking his head. "I walked into Dolores' room right as you stormed in, and I think she heard what you said. She looked pretty pleased with whatever you did."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, hermana." He nodded.

"Was it this difficult for you, when you married Pepa?" I asked looking down.

"No, but Alma expected me to be perfect, and since I calm Pepa's storms, well you can understand why she approved. You do something else, you listen and get Bruno through things. I haven't, in all the years I've known the Madrigals, seen Bruno so at ease and normal." He said. "Not that he isn't normal, he's just-"

"He's just Bruno." I nodded. "I understand, I just have wanted a family for a long time, and maybe my initial respect for Alma made me want too much."

"You have a brother in me, and Pepi has seen you as a sister since you took her feelings into account. The day you said you wanted her to make it rain on your wedding she came to me and was the happiest I have seen her in a long time." He patted my shoulder. "And Camilo and Dolores love you with all of their hearts."

"Gracias, Felix." I said and gave him a smile. "You're honestly the best. If the kids need anything, if you and Pepa need anything, let me know. I am honored to have you as part of my familia."

"You, me, Agustin, we all married into the craziest family. We have to stick together for the loves of our lives, hermana." He said giving a genuine smile. "And the love of yours took us all by surprise the other day. Pepi is right, you're the best kind of trouble, and I'm happy to call you my little sister."

"Hey! I'm taller than you!" I joked and he laughed. We split ways as I made my way to the glassblower, and he went off to find Pepa. I felt the warm feeling of acceptance settle in my chest as I picked up everything I needed. A few people looked at me with disdain as I made my way to my house.

"Excuse me!" A woman ran up to me. I quickly turned, my skirt trapping my legs.

"Yes?"

"Is it true that your husband is no longer giving out bad omens?" She asked and I felt my warm feelings dissipate.
