Walking back into Casita, we were welcomed by the whole family who seemed to have been waiting for us. Felix gave us a thumbs up and then noticed the ring Bruno gave me.

"Way to go, bro. I'm glad you got to do your thing the way you wanted."

Alma looked at where the attention fell upon my hand and looked between Bruno and myself.

"You already proposed? I was hoping you would at dinner, in front of your family." She said. I didn't miss her inflection on family.

"Mama, the time was right. Although, us Madrigals move things along quite quickly after I foresee matrimony." Bruno said and gave my hand a squeeze.

"Can I see the ring?" Alma asked and I nodded and held my hand out. I was thankful that the image of Bruno's vision was so small. She held my hand and looked it over and her eyes widened. "Is this a prediction?"

"Si, mama. It is of our wedding day. Which will go just as we want it." Bruno gave me a small smile. His eyes had a mischievous glint in them.

"As you want it?" She asked surprised and gave me a slight glare. "And how would you like it?"

"Alma," I said with a smile, "that would be best discussed at dinner."

"Very well, then, Julieta? How long until dinner?"

"About fifteen minutes." She said looking at the clock from within the kitchen.

"Wonderful." Alma clutched her hands in front of her. "We can discuss how you can be a contributing member of our community."

Bruno stilled at his mother's words, and Pepa's jaw dropped. I shook my head at Pepa and gave Bruno's hand a small squeeze. Neither of them seemed to listen.

"(Y/n) is a successful beadworker. She already contributes to the community." Bruno said from beside me. "She doesn't need her gift to do that."

"If she wants to be a Madrigal then she has to become a Madrigal, Bruno." Alma said as she used a scolding tone.

"Agustin and Felix didn't have to, mama." Pepa tried to help, knowing the consequences of my gift.

"They didn't have gifts. (Y/n) has a gift that could help the Encanto."

"Not if it kills her!" Pepa nearly yelled. Her emotions caused a blizzard to erupt above her head.

"Kills her?" Alma looked at me.

"If I am hurt or worse in a dream the wounds afflict my waking body." I said explaining the situation. Bruno wrapped an arm around my shoulder and kissed my temple.

"And if she and I sleep together then she dreams about what I do. There's no escape for her." Bruno said with a sarcastic tilt to his lips.

"So you cannot help the community?" She asked.

"I just have to come up with contingencies. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to help." I said. "I will need to make waivers similar to Bruno's and decide where I can assist that is not life threatening to me. I know it would hurt Bruno immensely if something happened to me."

Julieta stood in the doorway of the kitchen looking at the battle of wills before her. I stood in front of Bruno and made sure my back was straight and that my chin was held high.

"I understand your fears, Alma. But I am willing to help in the way we discussed earlier." I said and guilty chills went down my back. I was doing this for Bruno. "Allow me to draft up forms, and I will be prepared to help. To be a Madrigal."

She nodded, and looked at Bruno. I could feel his hand gripping mine tightly. "I just want what is best for you Bruno." Her eyes softened looking at him.
