I hadn't spent much time with Pepa, but I quickly found that she was generally easy to get along with. As we headed out of the house she tried to get rid of the happy hailstorm over her head and I smiled and told her not to worry about it.
"Mama says that I should have clear skies."
I spun in the hail, smiling at her. "This isn't negative! It's astoundingly beautiful." I reassured her.
"You're a bad influence!" She laughed. "No wonder Bruno loves you."
"Why, because I'm a bad influence?" I inquired.
"No, because I think you say what he is afraid to." She smiled, "You're trouble, the good kind, and I think he could use more of that."
"I think you all could." I said and she nodded.
"Mama is not going to like that I am going to give you a storm worthy of what Bruno caused at my wedding." She gave a smirk.
"What exactly happened at your wedding, if I can ask? Bruno sounded like he was upset at himself for 'fucking it up'. His words, not mine."
She sighed, "He told me it looked like rain, and Mama told me to keep the skies clear. I was a mess because I needed it to be perfect. A bit of sisterly advice, three things always go wrong at a wedding. Getting married in a hurricane was one of those things for mine, the other two being the fact that Mama sent Bruno back home and that he wasn't there."
"I really appreciate your honesty. Alma shouldn't have done that with how close you and your siblings are." We neared the seamstress shop and I stopped. "Did they apologize to you?"
"Bruno did. I just, it hurts still." Pepa admitted. "I love Bruno, but I had so much pressure on me to make it perfect with it being the first wedding out of us three. It is his fault, but it isn't in a way, and that is why I am still upset."
"I understand." I said and looked at Pepa. "When I was little, before my gift developed, my siblings and I were close. I always wanted them at everything I did. Sometimes I wish that I still had that relationship with them."
"What happened to cause your family to fall apart?" She asked.
"My gift happened." I shrugged it off. "But on a happier note, I get to marry into a family where I get to be a tia. And I get the best siblings-in-law."
She looked sadly at me and I gave her a small smile. "So is this the shop?"
"Yes, come on. No more sad discussions, only dresses and lots of green fabric." She pulled me into the shop.
The seamstress looked up at us as we entered the shop, instantly standing as she saw Pepa. I recognized her as the seamstress that tried to get me to buy blue and teal skirts when I first arrived in Encanto.
"Pepa! What can I do for you today?" The seamstress asked.
"You can't tell anyone, Selena, but this is Bruno's betrothed." Pepa said after looking around and seeing that no one else was in the shop. "And we're announcing it in town tomorrow."
"So soon!" Selena's eyes widened. "Congratulations...?"
"Oh, I'm (Y/n). I believe you have signed a few of my waivers for your customers who wanted things adorned with my beadwork."
"You're the mysterious beadworker?" Selena smiled. "I admire your work, Enrique has had a large influx of customers because of you! And I have seen how you've enhanced my work, it's astounding!"
I felt a bit embarrassed at the praise and smiled at her. "The blouses and skirts I got from you when I got here are quality products. Not to mention the dresses I have had the honor to enhance."
