The Morning after the Wedding

We dreamt together in the green misty expanse, absorbing the fact that we were now officially married.

"Hola, Señora Madrigal." Bruno said jokingly as I touched his arm in his dream.

"Hola, mi esposo." I smiled at him, "we really tired each other out."

"I blame you." He smiled at me and wrapped his arms around me. "It was the best day of my life, I got you, and I'm free. I'm free from my gift."

"I'm proud of you, mi vida. You made a choice, and you were so brave. We will have to deal with it when we wake up though."

"I know, mama isn't happy with everything." He paused and clutched me tighter. "But I am."

"I am too. You are amazing, Bruno. Even though a four year old pulled you into a mud puddle."

"She's strong!" He laughed and looked at me.

"You cannot say that you're not strong, Bruno." I laughed, "Have you seen your legs?"

"Not as up close and personal as you have." He winked and I shoved him a bit and laughed.

"It was funny though." I smiled.

"Mira thought it was hilarious." He smiled thinking of his favorite sobrina.

"So, Camilo's Cumpleaños is next right?" I asked him and he nodded.

"Then Mira's." He looked at me and gave a sad smile. "I hope they don't get something like our gifts."

"No matter what, we will celebrate them. I couldn't give a shit about the gift ceremony, I just want our sobrinos to know they are amazing as is."

"Me too." He said and he kissed me softly. "You'd be a great madre."

I blushed and looked deep into his eyes. "You would be an amazing padre, mi vida."

"Felix has a theory that you have a gift with kids." Bruno chuckled. "I just have glowy eyes."

"Have you seen how you interact with the kids? There's a reason Mira follows you like a shadow." I pulled his face closer and I peppered it with kisses. "You. Would. Be. An. Amazing. Father." I paused after each word to place a kiss on his face.

He smiled as I drew away. "Once Mira and Milo have their gift ceremonies, maybe we could talk about trying for a kid." He said. "I want you to myself for a bit."

"Good thing we got married then, because now you have me officially." I said, my voice becoming a bit heavy with emotion. "You gave me a family again, Bruno."

"I'm glad that I did. You don't have to run to a new place again. I wasn't kidding in my vows, amor." He kissed my forehead. "You need stability and I want to be that for you."

"I wasn't either, you are my home." I said and waved to the mist surrounding us. "This is my home now."

"In my dreams?" He asked with a smile.

"In your heart and mind I may have taken up residency."

He laughed, "You have."

"Good, I want to be in your heart and mind, because you're always in mine."

"Amor." Bruno whispered breathlessly at me, drawing me into a kiss. "Mi esposa, I will always have you in my heart and mind."

I smiled and enjoyed the moment, "I can't believe that I married the best man in Encanto, no scratch that, in Colombia."

"I married the best woman in the world, so I have you beat." He smiled.

I smiled at him and held his face in my hands. "If this is a competition, I've won. You're handsome, and creative, so fucking smart." I started listing off the wonderful wonderful things about him and he blushed.
