- "I'm not being selfish." -
It'd been a few months since Wade had left Alina at their flat and the former assassin wasn't exactly happy. She still spoke to Weasel and went to his bar at least once a week to talk with him. The pair had thought Wade was dead because of his cancer and he didn't have tons of money to pay for hospital bills or buy a new apartment. Alina didn't want to think about him being dead/ but it kept coming back to her mind.
The red head sat on her settee, one of Wade's jumpers around her while watching a film and sipping a beer. Pushing some hair behind her ear, Alina fiddled with the plastic of the finished ring pop. She and Wade had melted the large round circle off of it and then Wade stuck a diamond from a stolen ring into the blue plastic. Was it practical? Absolutely not but it was still him.
Alina's head snapped up when the lock to the door started to twist open and she reached for her gun that was crammed in between the settee cushions. Standing up, she made her way to the door, planting her feet a meter away to wait for whoever was going to open it. She presumed it would be another of Dreykov's.
The door snapped open and a woman with short red hair stood there, holding her gun up at Alina who raised an eyebrow. Both red heads stared at each other with glaring eyes, waiting to see who or if the other would shoot.
"Natasha." Alina greeted.
"Alina." Natasha muttered. "Put down the gun."
"While you hold one to me? I don't think so." Alina denied. "So, what, are you American now?"
"No, I'm Russian." Natasha sighed, walking into the apartment and kicking the door closed while she continued to hold the gun up.
"You sound American." Alina mused.
"I picked up the accent." Natasha shrugged. "If I lower my gun, will you lower yours?"
"Fine." Alina nodded, the pair lowering them slowly until the weapons sat at their thighs. "Why are you here? You said it was safer we not talk."
"S.H.I.E.L.D. needs your help." Natasha stated.
"What is S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Alina demanded. "Your boy band?"
"It's an intelligence organisation that protects the world." Natasha explained.
"Look at you, a hero now?" Alina asked. "Why me? You have Captain America now? Use him for your team."
"He's going to be on the team." Natasha nodded. "We need you for strength and you skill set, Alina. A person called Loki has taken the Tesseract." She showed Alina a photo of a glowing blue cube. "It has the power to wipe out the planet and we need to get it back from him. But he won't give it back so we'll have to take it."
"So, you haven't seen me in years and the first thing you say to me is that you want me to work for you?" Alina scoffed.
"Not for me, with me. Just to save the world." Natasha stated. "Don't be selfish."
"I'm not being selfish." Alina chuckled. "I just thought that maybe you'd be happier to see your sister."
"You're not my sister. More of a friend." Natasha said, glancing around the apartment before picking up a framed photograph. "Who's the guy?"
"No one, friend." Alina bit back, taking the photo and placing it on her nightstand. "Stop being nosy."
"It's my job to observe." Natasha smirked. "When does he get home, Alina? I'd like to see him."
"Yeah, so would I." Alina mumbled. "You asked Yelena?"
"No." Natasha denied.
"Have you tried to find her?" Alina questioned.
"No." Natasha shrugged and Alina shook her head. "I'm sure she's fine. Probably at home with a beer or vodka, watching Tv. Just help. You'll have a job and some people around you."
"If I help, I won't be sticking to orders." Alina warned.
"As if you ever did, A." Natasha smiled. "Are those stuffed dinosaurs fucking?"
"Yes. So, who else is doing it?" Alina quizzed.
"Me, Hawkeye, Captain America, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark." Natasha answered. "We have to go now, though."
"Of course we do." Alina muttered. "What do I need?"
"Your suit and weapons." Natasha answered.
"Fine. Don't touch anything."
Natasha nodded as Alina went into her room to get her things together. She continued to look over the apartment, not touching anything as she did so. Spotting Alina's wallet, she picked it when she saw something poking out of it. Opening it, she saw a photo of her and Wade, the one they took on Christmas, and an arcade ticket.
"I said not to touch anything." Alina snapped, snatching it from her, her suit now in her bag which she was carrying.
"Why won't you tell me who he is? Are you stalking him?" Natasha joked.
"No, he's dead." Alina responded flatly, tugging Wade's black and red coat on that he left her.
"I'm sorry about that." Natasha apologised, face dropping.
