A well deserved shower and an even more deserved nap later, Nora’s thoughts were finally clear and she was more than ready to go back to work. If she wanted to keep her family from learning the truth, she had to work faster and stop being distracted by Wong’s useless books. She pushed the dresser from the wall and proceeded to reproduce the wall she had in her office.

She spent enough time staring at it to do it to perfection in no time. It was a little concerning, but Nora didn’t care. All that mattered to her was that she wanted to find who wrote that book, who translated it for the sorcerers, and how they found out about the ring in the first place. Only then would she be able to save her own life.

She walked into the library with the clear intention of getting what she needed from Wong. She made her way through the bookshelves and found him in the middle of a conversation with Strange. She sighed. He was far from being on the list of people she wished to see for the rest of the night. Or ever at all. Not to mention that he probably saw something he wasn’t supposed to and he was annoying enough to try and look into it.

“People used to think I was funny,” he said.

“They were working for you ?” Wong asked.

Nora stepped in and looked at the librarian. “Most likely. Do you keep a registry of how you acquired books and who gave them to you, who translated them, this kind of thing ?”

“We were talking,” Strange said.

She turned to him and arched a brow. “Not anymore.” She looked back at Wong. “Specifically the book about the Flames. Do we know anything about anyone involved in that thing ?”

“They’ve been dead for quite a while,” Wong replied, handing a few books to Strange.

“They must have some family left. Maybe they kept something about it.”

Strange followed them back to the desk and looked at Nora. “What ‘flames’ are you talking about ?"

Nora decided to keep ignoring him. “I need to see the original manuscripts. All of them.”

“The first one is written in seventeen different languages,” Wong said, “including Latin and some ancient spells in Ancient Greek.”

“And I can translate seven of them. Including Latin and Ancient Greek,” she replied with a smirk. “Look, even if I don’t get anything for me, you’ll get a better translation of a book that doesn’t make any sense. You got nothing to lose.”

Wong considered her request for a moment, looking at her very seriously. Nora ignored the concern in his eyes and tried to keep her determined and confident posture. “I’ll find you something,” he finally agreed. “But the list is long.”

She smiled and repressed the urge to just hug him. “Then Mordo will be very busy opening portals for me. I’ll get him a gift or something.”

Nora turned around and left the room. She didn’t need to be there anymore, and she’d wait for Strange to leave to come back and read a little more. She took a cigarette out of her pocket and walked outside of the Sanctum. Once on her spot across the street, she took a second to enjoy the fresh air on her face. Finally, she was getting somewhere.

“There was something in your eyes earlier.”

Nora blew out the smoke and looked at Strange, standing on the doorway, still holding the books Wong gave him. “Are you stalking me ? Whatever you think you saw should convince you to stay away from me.” Seeing that he wasn’t going anywhere, Nora rolled her eyes. “It’s called anger. I’m sure you have some kind of talent to bring the worst in people.”
