07. || Breakdown

"Hey.."

I turned around and saw Damon coming into my room. Surprised at his little visit I raised my brows.

"I'm just here to say goodbye."

What? I looked him deadly serious in the eyes and stepped towards him. "I won't let you go again Damon." In his icy blue eyes something lid up for a second.

"I know and I am coming back, just in case something doesn't go as planned.." I shook my head before violently grabbing him by his collar.

"Don't you dare to do something stupid Damon Salvatore!"

Damon took my hand off his collar and wrapped his strong arms around me.

"Just know I love you Odessa."

I pulled away and stared into his blue eyes. I knew how he meant it, but hearing him say those three words made something inside me turn.

"As a little sister of course."

He said before laying his lips on my forehead. I sighed in relief. It's not that I didn't love Damon but.. It was complicated. There was Elena, there was our past and a lot more things and I didn't love him in that way, anymore. Of course there will always be a part of me that wished we ended up together, but it was too late now.

Now he was just like Enzo to me. Like a brother. Before Augustine and in there.. oh yea. I was madly in love with him. Dying to kiss him, to feel his heart beat just for me.

God- I gave him the blood which would've been my daily food so that he felt better.
As I said, Augustine was rough.

"I love you too Salvatore. Don't do anything I might cry about, understand?"

Damon nodded but we both knew he wasn't gonna hold that promise he just made.

After I finished putting on my lipstick we went off to Bonnies party. Enzo quickly went to grab himself a drink while Damon and Elena disappeared into the dancing crowd of teenagers. And I was left alone.
Shaking my head I wanted to go inside but I couldn't.

Thirty minutes later Bonnie appeared in front of me and invited me in. Finally. I pulled her into a silent corner to give her the present. "That's real British grimoire it belonged to a relative of the Bennett family so technically it belongs to you." She looked at it in excitement and opened the old book. "There are spells I never heard of!" I nodded smiling at her. Suddenly she hugged me. Wow! Intense.

"Thank you Layla.. I start to get why Damon likes you." We smiled at each other but then I got back to reality. That was too emotional for me.

Bonnie went upstairs to hide the grimoire in her room. In the meantime I walked up to my brother. He handed me one of those red plastic cups. Ugh beer.

"Since when does Lorenzo St. John drink beer?" I asked disgusted from the smell of the sparkling liquid.

"And since when is Layla Odessa St. John being nice to other girls?"
My brother looked at me with risen eyebrows which made me roll my eyes.
"Shut up she's gonna die. I might be a psychopath but I'm not cruel."
Enzo laughed and shook his head.

"Where are Damon and Elena?"

Caroline popped out in front of us like she came out of nowhere. "I haven't seen them." I answered. Right after that, someone shut the music down to make an announcement.

"Guys! A blue chevy camaro just crashed into the grill!"

Wait a blue camaro?
"Bonnie is gone too!"

Caroline hissed desperately What? No I just talked to her. She went upstairs and was about to be here in a minute.
This girl couldn't just disappear into thin air..
there was just one thing that would explain her disappearance.

"The other side is breaking down.."

We quickly ran outside to find them. I didn't know how, but we ended up in the forest of Mystic Falls and tried finding Bonnie. Screaming her name we lost our hope more and more until Enzo found her almost collapsing due to her pain.

Suddenly a bright light dazzled in front of us and Elena stepped out of it. What the-
Did she just come back from the other side?

I sighed in relief. If she could come back Damon also could. The next to come out was a blonde man. "Alaric!" Elena shouted and fell into his arms. I had no time figuring out who he is and why he had such a weird name.
I just waited for Damon.

Out of nowhere I looked into Stefan eyes and after a few seconds Bonnie was gone and with her the bright light.

No! Caroline let out a loud scream when her best friend disappeared and Elena fell crying into Alarics arms.

"Where is he?"

I asked with tears flooding my eyes. When Stefan didn't answer me I wrapped my hand around his neck and pushed him against a tree, causing the wood to crack a little.

"Where is Damon!?"

Enzo pulled me away from Stefan, whose neck had been bruised due to my strong grip.

I cried out loudly and sunk to the cold ground of the woods. The sadness overwhelmed me and I had no control of my powers. Leafs started flying around and the trees started shaking. Enzo hugged me tight to get me to stop, but nothing worked.

I just lost my first true love. My best friend. The only person, who understood me. I lost everything I wished for in a person just two days after finding him again..
