48. || Close to you

I was still desperate to find Kai and get this awful thought put of his head. I get why he wanted to be a vampire, but he didn't see the negatives. I knew that the moment he became a heretic, he would turn the switch off.

"Layla relax!"

Caroline hissed at me, while she was curling her hair in her dorm. "He won't do that." My eyes rolled back. "Can we please agree that I know this guy better than anyone else does?" Caroline sighed but nodded, just like Stefan. The door slammed open and Damon and Elena came in.

"We came as fast as we could sorry!"

A day later was not as fast as I expected but okay. Today was the party, but while Kai was out there looking for  a vampire I couldn't go there with a calm conscience.

"Just forget him for today."

"Too bad Layla never forgets about Kai."

Damon said and made Elena chuckle. Yep, he was still pissed off. "I'm gonna call him–"

"You already did! Like a hundred times, he's fine." Caroline ripped the phone out of my hand and hid in in one of her lockable drawers. "Care he could call me back!" She sighed and looked over to Stefan to get some help.

"Layla it's clear that doesn't want to be found."

Stefan said calmly. "Exactly!" Caroline confirmed and pulled the red dress out of a shopping bag. "Now put this on and get ready! Theo is gonna be here any second!"

I finally agreed and got ready. The dress was making me uncomfortable, it was shorter than I remembered and I wasn't really in partying mood, so that these heels made my feet hurt the moment I slipped them on.

"Can't I just go in jeans?"

"No!"

The door knocked and Caroline squeaked in excitement. "Forget Kai, just for tonight okay? I promise that we're gonna find him tomorrow, but now.. Enjoy your date." She pushed me out of the dorm, right into Theos arms.

I apologized for falling in his arms but he really didn't seem to mind. "You look stunning!" I smiled at him and nodded my head for a little thank you.
"You don't look bad yourself." He grinned and took my hand to leave the dorm.

At the party I couldn't focus on anything but Kai. My phone was gone, he was gone and it drove me crazy.
As much as I felt sorry for Theo, I couldn't get Kai out of my head. If he turned, it was over for everyone. He'd be gone forever with no chance of getting back.

I'd lose him forever.

"Hey you alright?" Theo asked me and seemed a little worried about me. "Yea I'm fine." I smiled at him and took a sip out of the red cup in my hand.
"Soo.. Do you want to dance?"
I snapped back to reality and nodded at his question.
God damn it Kai!

»Close to you« by Calvin Harris started bumming out the big speakers, making my heart vibrate in the beat of the song.

Theo placed his hands on my hips and started moving to the rhythm of the song. While looking into his eyes the thought of Kai rushed out of my brain within a second. My lips curled into a playful smirk and my hands traveled to his chest, pulling him closer to me.

"Hands off sunnyboy."

Kai pushed Theo aside and grabbed my hips to pull me in. My jaw fell open and I looked over to Theo, but Kais big hand wrapped around my chin and forced me to look into his eyes.

"You really do care about me, don't you?"

I knitted my brows and stared Kai in the eyes. What did he mean? "I never wanted to turn." Oh my god..
I shrugged myself out of his grip and wanted to grab Theos hand, but Kai motused him away and pulled me in again.

"You manipulative son of a bitch!"

I yelled over the music, but the words just made him grin mischievously. The light of the flashlights flickered in red and blue over the whole crowd. Kais eyes seemed almost black in this lightening, they always seemed black in the night sky.

As the music turned into a banging beat, Kais hand wrapped around my cheek and the next thing I felt were his plump lips crushing against mine.

Due to the loud music, the adrenaline and of course Kais lips on mine, my heart was about to jump right out of my chest. I finally closed my eyes and leaned into the kiss.

My hand grabbed onto his shirt, while the other one disappear in his thick hair...
