I was in the ghost town, strolling from store to store to find something proper to wear. I couldn't just rip Damons sweats apart and wear them on a daily basis. Actually I wouldn't mind that-

"It's soo exhausting to shop with a woman."

Kai complained and sat down on one of the leathery chairs in the store. "I never told you to come." I muttered and inspected the clothes on the clothing rack. For a short moment I forgot that Kai was a sociopath and showed him a dress. "Hey how's this?" The moment I saw his questioning glare I shook my head and grinned to myself.

"Sorry.. Forgot that you have no sense of style."

I threw that dress into my shopping bag and continued to the shoes. "Hey! I'm stylish." A dry laugh came out of my mouth. "Yeah- 1994 style maybe." Kai looked down at his clothes and shrugged his shoulders.

"Well I can walk around naked if you'd like that better."

For a slight moment I tried imagining him naked, but then I shook my head. "I'd rather die than see you naked." Kai came up to me and stared at my hands, which were searching through the hundreds of clothes.

"I can do that too."

Rolling my eyes at his words I picked out a black top. "Red or black?" I whispered to myself as I looked at the two items in my hand. "Red looks sexy on you." I turned to Kai and threw the black one in my bag.

"So black."

I said and left the store followed by Kai. "Are we done?" Giggling at his tired voice I shook my head. "I need nail polish." Kai sighed annoyed that my shopping list continued.

"You realize that you are in a prison world right? You don't have to impress any– Ohh or do you want to look good for Malachai Parker?"

Malachai?

"Wait your name is Malachai?"

Kai scoffed and nodded. "Crazy huh?" Actually yes. I thought he was just Kai, but Malachai sounded so much more dangerous than Kai.

"Who names his kid Malachai? It's like they expected me to be evil."

I had to giggle at his words. I mean he had a point. Malachai sounded pretty evil.

"Oh shut up Odyssey."

"It's Odessa."

He grinned at me and came after me into the drug store. "I know honey." I ignored that pet name as always and made my way to the nail polishes. I grabbed two red tones and studied them intensely. The right one was a touch darker than the left one and I liked that.

"Don't joke about my name when yours is Malachai." I mumbled under my breath while still checking out the tiny glass bottles in my hands. I decided to pick the darker one.

"Do you even know what Malachai means?"

"Messenger of god."

I quickly answered and turned to Kai, who seemed truly impressed about the knowledge I had. "Oh please Kai, you're not that unique." We headed back to the streets of Mystic Falls and made our way back home. No idea why he stayed there with me when there was a whole world of empty houses.

"Odessa means long journey by the way."

Kais throat escaped a sarcastic noise, which made me turn around. "Kinda ironic huh heretic girl?" I nodded in agreement. He was right. I had a long journey because of the vampirism.

Back home I disappeared in Damons room and made clear that I didn't want to get interrupted. I decided to turn this day into a self care day. Shaving, hair masks, face masks and doing my nails.

After getting out of the shower and putting on my new pjs, I put my hair in a tight high ponytail and looked at the facemasks in my hand. Sadly, a loud knock on the door made me snap back to reality. I already closed my eyes and tried to keep my cool.

"I'm bored-"

My eyes wandered from the door to the masks in my hand again. I sighed and opened the door. I couldn't believe that I was actually being nice to the guy who tried to kill me multiple times.

"Ever had face masks?"

Kai furrowed his brows and shook his head. "No and I'm not looking forward to." I shrugged my shoulders. "Alright." Just as I wanted to close the door again, Kai prevented it with his foot.

"I want the honey mask."
