Rolling my eyes I decided to completely ignore Kai and got the attention of the waitress. "Can we get the bill please? Thank you." I grabbed my purse and took out thirty dollars.

"Can I talk to you?"

"Girls shall we?"

I asked my friends after leaving the money on the table. They both looked at me with confusion on their face. As if I hadn't realized that Kai was talking to me.

"Layla please.."

Bonnie quickly knew what I was up to and played along. "Yea, let's go." She said and also grabbed her bag to get up. Caroline just followed our actions and then we all got up.

"Can you please stop ignoring me I am sorry for–"

The moment we left the cafe I turned to Kai and slammed my hand against his cheek. "Stay away from me." I hissed with a clenched jaw. He sighed and nodded, avoiding my eyes.

"Give me two minutes Layla."

Just as I was about to walk completely away with the girls by my side, he said something I never heard Kai Parker say;

"I'm begging you Layla- please."

I signalized Bonnie and Care that they should go, but they hesitated. Understandable, I wouldn't let me alone with this monster as well.

"Everything's okay, we're just gonna have a little talk."

I smiled while digging my nails into Kais shoulder with my vampire strength. He coughed at the pain and nodded when Bonnie looked at us.

Once Care and Bonnie were gone I turned to face Kai. "You have exactly two minutes before I rip your heart out." He looked me in the eyes, not knowing what to say or do. After at least one minute of pure silence he finally made up the balls to speak.

"I have no idea how to deal with emotions, you know that.."

That's it? Kai looked me dead serious in the eyes and suddenly a slight smile appeared on his face.

"Sorry you're so beautiful–"

My jaw clenched at his words. "Get to the point Parker." He nodded quickly and cleared his throat.

"I was afraid. Before the merge with Luke happened I never felt anything besides anger, but when you came along.. You turned my whole world Layla."

All the things he said had zero affect on me. I remained cold and monotone towards him. How pathetic would it be if I just forgave him?

"I was scared that you were gonna make me feel something else and then–"

"Then you decided to kill me?"

Kai opened his mouth with a little grin on his lips. "Actually I didn't kill you.. I just sucked out your whole magic."

"Oh yeah right, that changes everything!"

He chuckled but stopped immediately when he saw that I didn't find any of this funny.
"Look I don't know what else to say – I googled so many things and how to make it up to you and they said that a genuine apology works the best."

"Oh I'm sorry you feel guilty for not caring about anyone but yourself Kai! Must be really exhausting!"

People who walked past us looked at me with furrowed brows as I yelled at him in public. I couldn't care less about these humans.

"Yeah right–"

"Face it Kai! You're obsessed with yourself!"

Kai huffed and shook his head. "I cared about you! I still do even if I don't want to! My brain constantly keeps thinking that you're in danger, that i have to look after you and I don't get why–"

"That's not your brain dumbass."

He frowned while I was just staring at his lips. The memories flashed in front of my eyes. Our prison world memories. I quickly shook my head to get these pictures out of my brain.

"Try figuring that one out Malachai.."
