My eyes flickered open due to the cold wind hitting my face through the window of the chevy Impala we stole about two weeks ago. I yawned drowsily and leaned back into my seat while watching the stores pass by. As soon as I realized where I was I sat back upright and immediately turned my head to Kai.

"Are you insane?!"

"Calm down."

He mumbled while casually holding steering wheel with one hand. I furiously rolled my eyes and let out an annoyed sigh. How could he be so dumb and risk getting caught? I wasn't too thrilled to be held captive in a cell again.

"What the hell are we even doing here?"

"Grabbing a coffee. You should relax-"

"You bloody bastard- If anyone sees us you won't be able to relax ever again."

Kai stopped the car in the middle of the street, making me rip my eyes open. Oh so he wanted to be caught! God- I wouldn't let him drive again. If I knew that he'd drive through Mystiv Falls just for a goddamn coffee, I would never let him sit behind this bloody seering wheel.

"Why are you stopping now?!"

"Because we're at a red light."

"You never stop at red lights."

He turned his face to mine and rolled his eyes.

"We don't wanna get caught, do we?"

I stared at Kai in disbelief and recognized something weird. He was wearing his seatbelt. What vampire wears a seatbelt? I just crossed my arms and sat back into my seat like a pissed off child. Kai was probably the most irresponisble person on this earth and I was saying this with my humanity off! I just couldn't think of a plausible reason to stop by in this rathole. I mean yes- the coffee was great but hello? There's a starbucks store at every corner now. Why do we need to stop at the Mystic Grill?

When Kai slammed the door shut, I flinched back to reality and watched him wait for me to get out. An annoyed sigh escaped my mouth, but there was nothing else to do. I left the car and walked into the Grill with Kai by my side.

As soon as the door closed behind us, I inhaled the familiar smell of this place. It mostly melled like food but there was also a woody note to it.

"Let's get this over with"

I murmurred under my breath and approached the bar. Kai disappeared in the bathroom, making me roll my eyes. Something was off about him. No matter what he'd do, He would never stop at a red light or wear his seatbelt. For fucks sake he was a vampire! He wouldn't die in a car accident!

"Get me a Bourbon and a coffee to go"

The bartender nodded quietly and went to make the two drinks ready. He seemed a bit surprised. Poor guy must've thought I was an alcoholic ordering a Bourbon at ten in the morning.

Kai still wasn't back and this bad feeling inside my stomach just grew with every passing second. Something was not sitting right with me. Why would a vampire pay attention to traffic, why would he put on his seatbelt and act like a human?

The bartender placed the Bourbon in front of me and just by looking at it, I could smell the vervain. The aching smell made me pucker my nose in disgust. They knew. They knew that I was at the grill. I turned around and was about to leave the Grill when suddenly the door opened and I saw two men standing in front of me.

"Hello sister."

My useless brother said while taking a step forward. When I turned to the side I saw Kai come back in and compell all guests to leave. I watched his ations with squinted eyes and an unhinged expression adorning my face.

"You turned it on."

I whispered more to myself than to Kai, but he heard it. My accomplice stared at me with disappointed eyes before lowering his head in shame.

"Oh god-! I can't believe that stupid kid made you turn it on!"

Stefan and Enzo exchanged a confused glance, but they didn't have time to waste, so Enzp made another step towards me.

"Layla- We'll help you."

"Shut up."

I hissed furiously. Did they really think that asking me nicely would make me turn it on again? Just like that? Oh no. They had to try a lot harder than that. I promised myself to never turn it on again and I was still holding that promise.

"Layla we know how hard it is.."

Stefans words just ignited a flame of hate inside of my chest. I couldn't stand his emotional speeches about humanity and how to deal with the trauma when you turned it on again. No thank you.

I turned to the bar and looked at the innocent bartender who was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. I grabbed him by the collar of his washed out shirt and harshly pulled him over the counter to hold his neck captive between my hands. His life was literally in my hands. One snap and he would be gone.

"Layla! Stop it!"

The panic in Stefans voice caused a vicious smirk to form on my lips. The first rule of being a vampire without humanity- know your enemies worst fears.

"You all are gonna leave now or this poor guy is going to die just because you were too selfish."

Enzo rolled his eyes and walked towards me. Stefan tried to hold my brother back for the sake of this cute bartender, but my brother was determined. I smirked while staring into Stefans eyes and snapped the neck within a second. Enzo closed his eyes for a second, while I threw the lifeless body of the bartender in front of Stefans feet.

"Look what you've done..."

"Rippahh."

I added to my sentence with a grin on my lips. Stefans eyes were glued on to the corpse of that poor guy.

"Now if you don't mind-"

I flipped my long hair over my shoulder, pulled my short dress a little down and proceeded to walk out of the grill, but the moment I opened the heavy door, I looked into Damons blue eyes.

"Good night Odessa."

Was the last thing I remebered besides a hard knock on my head...
