A few days after things had calmed down, I'd taken to sitting with Ollivander in his room to keep him company a few hours throughout the day. He'd be resting in the chair by the window, rocking Gemini as she slept, while I sat on the edge of the bed. Kreacher would be with me unless he was flicking out to get things for Gemini. Often while he was out he'd come back with a bundle wrapped up with a calling card simply labelled, DM. Always containing a variety of clothes and things Gemini would need but I couldn't leave the safe house to buy. At least one of her parents got a say in her outfits.
"What are you going to do with the shop?" I asked Ollivander, thinking on the state it must have fallen into this last year without anyone to tend to it. Apparently even the joke shop had to close on Diagon Alley in order for the twins to go into hiding.
"It's yours," Ollivander insisted. "It was willed to you as soon as you became my apprentice. I'll monitor you and help but from now it is yours."
Fleur knocked and came inside, to deliver food for Ollivander, "There is food downstairs when you're ready."
"Thank you," I nodded. Reaching forwards. I extracted my child from my old bosses' arms in order to allow him to eat his food.
Fleur left shutting the door behind her. It didn't stay shut long before Harry walked in with both Ron and Hermione behind.
"Yes?" Ollivander smiled at them as they came inside.
"Mr Ollivander, I need to ask you a few question," Harry stated, my eyes easily flicking to the wands in his hand. One that I recognised as Draco's.
"Anything, my boy, anything," Ollivander insisted waving the three of them further into the small room.
I shuffled my arms a little bit as I scooted across the bed, without knocking Gemini around too much. I'd learnt if baby was sleeping you sleep or you don't move, especially when she hated sleeping in her crib. Always wanting to sleep with somebodies body warmth wrapped around her.
"Would you mind identifying this wand?" Harry asked. Why he hadn't asked me was beyond my knowledge? Sometimes I think he forgets while he wasn't talking to me, I was earning a living at Ollivander's as his apprentice. Harry continued as he settled in the space I'd just moved from, "We need to know if it's safe to use." Harry reached his hand across to caress his niece's closed fist.
Ollivander analysed the wand, identifying each of the properties as he had taught me to do within my first week at his shop. "Walnut. Dragon heart-string. Twelve and three-quarter inches. Uny-" Ollivander paused for a moment as he tried to bend the wand slightly. His eyes connected with Harry's, "Unyielding. This belonged to Bellatrix Lestrange. Treat it carefully."
Harry accepted the wand back and now handed another. This one I knew. "And this."
Ollivander accepted the wand and repeated his process, "Hawthorn. And unicorn hair. Ten inches. Reasonably pliant." He pressed it to his ear with a confused expression. "This was the wand of Draco Malfoy."
"Was?" I asked.
"Is it not still?" Harry pushed, avoiding the fact that I had asked almost the same thing.
"Well, perhaps not, if you won it from him," Ollivander explained the allegiance of wands. Temperamental little things. The possibility Harry had it's allegiance was high, considering one of the only spells he ever used was expelliarmus. "I sense it's allegiance has changed." Ollivander handed the wand back to Harry.
Harry settled it next to Bellatrix's before asking his next question, "You talk about wands as if they have feelings, can think."
"The wand chooses the wizard, Mr Potter," Ollivander repeated his age old wisdom. The phrase he told every young witch or wizard that entered his shop. A phrase I had told many fledging magical folk seeking a wand the summers I worked the shop. "That much has always been clear to those of us who have studied wandlore."
