How unfortunate he was to die so young. To lose his life because he married the wrong woman. He looks at Mary. His own person. How beautiful she is when she sleeps. His hand touches her bare back. He caresses her surgical scar from the bullet. The bullet she got to save him.

Even after all these years, he can't forget those moments. The moments of terror and despair. The moments of martyrdom.

His fingers pinch the bridge of his nose. He needs a drink. He kisses Mary softly on the forehead, gets out of bed, and as quietly as he can, opens the door and walks out into the corridor ...

~ SEBASTIAN AND LOIS' BEDROOM ~

Sebastian is sleeping as usual, like a baby, and Lois is lying next to him, stroking his arm.
