~ ONE WEEK LATER ~ FRIDAY, MAY 21, 2010 ~

~ GYNAECOLOGIST's OFFICE ~

The two pregnant women, Mary, and Lois, and of course their husbands are waiting in the waiting room for the ultrasound. For Mary and Jace, it's their first since discovering they are pregnant, and they are thrilled to hear their new baby's heartbeat. But that's not all. A very pleasant surprise awaits them ...

Physician assistant: Miss Harronate, please?

Lois: That's me.

Assistant: You can come in. The doctor is ready for you.

Lois and Sebastian enter the doctor's office.

Doctor: My dear Lois! How are you feeling?

Lois: I'm hungry.

The doctor laughs and Sebastian rolls his eyes.

Doctor: That makes sense.

Sebastian: Yes, but does it also make sense that she's eating toast with salty feta cheese, cherry jam, and tomato?

Doctor: All together? Ugh. That's disgusting.

Sebastian: Tell me about it.

Doctor: But also, reasonable.

Lois: Did you see that? Stop nagging now.

Sebastian: Hmm ...

Doctor: Look, Sebastian. The combination of many different flavours is perfectly normal during pregnancy and is clearly based on each woman's appetite. So, whatever you see from now on, don't be surprised. Just be patient!

Sebastian: God help me!

Lois: You, drama queen.

Doctor: Just like his brother-in-law. Those two get along pretty well, don't they?

Lois: Too well, I'd say.

Doctor: I thought so. Whatever. Let us go inside and see your baby.

~ AFTER THE ULTRASOUND ~

Doctor: Everything's fine. The baby is growing normally. You are sixteen weeks along.

Sebastian: When will we know the sex?

Doctor: In about four weeks, we'll be able to see the genitals clearly, though all indications are that it's a boy.

Sebastian and Lois look at each other, joy written all over their faces.
