First thing that ran through my head was, ‘What the hell is going on?’
Second was, ‘If he hurt her I will rip him to shreds.’
Third, ‘Damn my knee is starting to hurt.’
And fourth, ‘She better not be pregnant because Travis will get a heart attack.’, but then I thought better of that because Tiana is a good girl and she wouldn’t sleep with someone she just met.
Actually I have never even seen her speaking to Jason til that time I saw her crying on his shoulder outside the grocery store.
Jason caught my eye and separated himself from Tiana. Tiana looked at him confused but didn’t look my way so she was still oblivious of my presence.
Then Jason smirked at me. “Aw, proposing already? But we just met.” He said in a falsetto voice.
That’s when Tiana was so beyond confused that she decided to turn around to see to what or who he was talking to. When she saw me on the ground in one knee, to say she was surprised was an understatement.
She screamed and jumped holding a hand to her chest.
“Jeez Alex, scare the shit of me why don’t you.” Tiana gasped.
I cleared my throat and stood up straight. I walked into the room and closed the door behind me.
“My guess is that Travis doesn’t know he,” I pointed to Jason, “is here. Correct?” I asked Tiana.
Tiana nodded her head and looked down to her fiddling hands.
“Why are you here Alex?” Jason asked me.
I turn to look at him keeping my face blank from all emotions. “I had told Tiana I was going to have a conversation with her.”
“But you weren’t at school.” Tiana stated quietly.
“Yeah, I was. Jason should know.” I said giving Jason a pointed look.
“Yeah, but you ditched the rest of the day.” Jason said with an accusing look at me.
I shrugged. “Family trouble.” I said honestly, because Titi is more family to me than my own father.
“Now, whether he is here or not, I promised Travis I would talk to you Tiana. We are all worried about you.” I told her, not leaving a ‘no’ for discussion.
“Ok.” Tiana said in a small voice.
I looked at Jason to see if he was going to leave or not.
“I’m not leaving.” Jason said defiantly.
I shrugged not caring. “But Tiana, you are going to tell me everything. If Jason told you to keep something a secret, f*ck him, you will tell me. You know I would never tell anyone something you didn’t want me to. I am worried about you Tiana and if you won’t tell Travis, you gotta tell me.” I said moving to sit on the bed across from them both.
