I pulled over at a curb as my chest began rising and falling at a rapid pace. My palms around the steering wheel were clammy. 

No! That couldn’t be him. There is no way in hell that could be him. He died in that fire I started. I know he did; he had to have burned alive! I made sure he couldn’t escape…

My phone started ringing to ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’ by LMFAO.

“Hello?” I answered a bit breathlessly.

“A, you ok?” Titi asked from the other end of the phone with concern clear in his voice.

I cleared my throat and closed my eyes taking a deep breath. “Yeah, I’m fine sorry just a bit tired. What’s up?” 

“Nothing just wanted to see if your bringing Jaiden… Oh and if you’re coming too.” He added the last part quickly.

I rolled my eyes, a small smile crawling onto my face. “Gee, I feel the love.” I replied sarcastically.

Titi laughed. “Aw, you know I love you!” He cooed.

“Uh-huh. And sure we’ll come over… I really need my best friend right now.” I whispered the last part in a solemn tone.

“I’m always here Alex and always will be.” Titi said in the most serious tone I’ve ever heard him be and knew he couldn’t be more sincere than he was being then.

“Thanks.” I replied in a quiet voice.

“Now hurry up. I’m waiting!” He said in his normal voice.

I chuckled. “Aight I’m going bye.”

“Bye!” He exclaimed excitedly and hung up.

I smiled and drove to Jaiden’s school. 

She doesn’t get out for another hour, but with everything that is going on with Tiana, I really want to be with my little sister at the moment. I’ll just check her out of school early today.

I arrived at Jaiden’s school and parked my car. I got out of my car twirling my keys on my index finger while humming to All Time Low’s ‘The Backseat Serenade’. 

My heavy combat boot thudded under the concrete beneath me as I made my way towards the school’s entrance. 

Before I walked in, I straightened my Paramore t-shirt, fixed my leather jacket and dusted off invisible dust from my gray skinny jeans with wholes going down the front of my legs as I tried to make myself look a bit more presentable for the school.

As I was about to walk in, a waft of smoke was blown my way making me hack from the smell and the bit that entered my mouth. I waved my hand in front of my face trying to get the smoke away from me.
