Mystery Dude?!
I should really learn his name...
I turned completely around to face him. I cocked a hip and crossed my arms over my chest while he walked towards the rest of the racers.
I'm not conceited I know that he isn't walking towards me. He needs to be here for Marcos to account the racers and list the rules... more like rule. A very important rule.
"If it isn't you again. I thought you rode motorcycles not race cars." I said once he was in front of me. He had this sort of creepy smirk on his face.
"Ditto." He responded.
Titi walked up next to me. I looked up to him and he gave me a look that said 'How the hell do you know this noob?'. I gave him a look that hopefully said 'Grounds'. He seemed to understand because he nodded in understanding.
Marcos began telling everyone the RULE and made sure every driver was here. Then we all dispersed to get in our cars. Before I got in my car, I ran up to Mystery Dude.
"Hey." He stopped and turn to face me. "What's your name? I just want to keep calling you dude." I said stuffing my hands in my pockets and gave him a small shrug.
Mystery Dude smirked. "I'll tell you soon enough." He said mysteriously and got in his car.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, but just shrugged and headed to my car. I placed a hand on the door handle, but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I turned my head and saw Titi. He turned me around and gave me a hug.
"Be careful." Titi said once he pulled away.
"When am I not careful?" I asked him acting innocent.
He raised an eyebrow like 'you must be f*cking kidding'.
I laughed lightly. "Don't answer that."
He grinned. "Wasn't planning to."
We fist bumped and he turned to walk away while I turned to get in my car.
I turned the engine on feeling it come to life with one simple twist of the key. I closed my eyes placing my hands firmly on the steering wheel. I took a deep breath.
Race to the finish.
Race to the finish.
All you have to do. Forget about your life, forget about everything else going on around you, and your problems.
At that moment a slutty dressed girl walked in front of the cars. All the drivers revved their engines. I opened my eyes and smirked.
"Time to race to the finish bitches!" As soon as those words left my mouth the slut waved the banner around.
I set my car in drive and sped out of there. A few cars tried to knock my car out of the way, but fail miserably. A few even knock themselves out of the road trying to knock my car out. Stupid!
Most of the drivers know that I've won every street race since I started since I was 13, so they try anything to make me lose. Titi taught me how to drive and street race. I owe him so much.
Rite now I'm head to head with Mystery Dude. He turned his head to glance at me. He puts to fingers on his forehead to salute me with a smirk. I don't even focus on him.
I can practically feel the fire burning in me from all the adrenaline that is surging through my body.
My eyes focused solemnly on the road... on finishing this race.
I'm so focused on driving and the feeling of freedom and adrenaline that racing brings to me that I don't even notice that Mystery Dude wasn't on my right anymore. I didn't really care except next thing I know...
I get hit from the left.
"What the f*ck?!" I yelled out loud as my car swerved.
I stomped hard on the breaks causing my car to screech to a stop facing the opposite way. I didn't waste one second before I put my car on reverse and pressed the gas.
The mother-efer thought he could knock me out of the rode? Well he's got another thing coming.
I quickly caught up to him. He does a double-take. Clearly shocked I saluted him with two fingers just like he had done to me, then I flipped him off. I speed up to be a little bit more ahead of him before rapidly swerving to face forward again. I could see the finish line and knew it was time to hit the button to release the NO2 gas. I blasted through the finish line. I won.
A minute later Mystery Dude finished, but I knew he had slowed down from when he had started. I would've never slowed down even if I thought I wasn't going to win.
I stepped out and Titi ran over to me. He embraced me in a tight hug lifting me off the ground. He placed me back on the ground.
"Dude! That's was sick! Best race ever!" We both laughed, then he turned serious. "Are you alright though? That was the first person in five years that someone was actually able to make you swerve. I should kick his ass."
I laughed. I love Titi he's like a big brother to me.
"Nah. It's cool. It was actually a really fun race." I said chuckling.
"How's your face?" Titi then questioned.
I had completely forgotten about my face and my stomach. HA! Racing does that to a girl.
"Fine. I had completely forgotten about it."
"That's not normal. How do you just forget about the pain? Like it never even happened?"
I got numbed of it after so many years of beatings. I thought, but instead I said nothing I just shrugged.
Titi shook his head. "It's like you're used to it." He then furrowed his eyebrows and his fists clenched. A huge scowl was placed on his face. "Who's beating you Alex?"
My heart rate picked up a bit from the nervousness of Titi's penetrating gaze on me.
"No one." I lied. "I'm not numb to it. It's the adrenaline from the race. You know it makes me forget everything." I half lied. Racing does make me forget everything, but I am practically numb to all the pain from my father's beatings.
Titi didn't seem convinced. He still had a scowl on his face, his shoulders were tense, and he kept his fists clenched tightly turning white. He opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted.
"Nice race. I heard you were good, but you are better than I expected." A deep voice said from behind me.
The voice sent chills down my spine. Not the chills that Jason gives me. No, they these chills make me want to run away in fear. I feel like I've heard that voice and felt those same chills before.
I turned around. "Thanks. You weren't so bad yourself." I said nonchalantly.
Then I froze when my eyes met his...
