I turn turned to my right very slowly; cautiously. There he was with a questioning look in his deep blue eyes, his dirty blonde hair spiked in all directions. His arms were crossed over his chest flexing his 'too big for my liking' muscles.
"I just saw a smokin' hot girl walk in there and then you come out..." His deep voice trails off as if suspecting something.
"Yeah that's my girlfriend. I was in there waiting for her and now she's... freshening up." The lie rolled smoothly off my tongue as I had deepened my voice to sound like a man.
He straightened up and his eyes twinkled with mischief. "A girlfriend huh? I didn't think a guy like you would have a girlfriend like that." He chuckled. "Come to think of it, I've never seen you without your helmet on." He said and the suspicion entered his eyes.
"That's because I don't want to be walking down the street and getting mobbed by people. Also because if I see you around you won't know who I am and allowing me stay away from you and you from me." I replied with irritation.
He laughed as if it was some kind of joke when really I was not joking at all.
I turned back around and began walking to the garages. I heard him jogging after me, but I just ignored him. There was a question nagging at me though that I couldn't get rid of... I stopped in my tracks causing him to stop too and turned to face him.
"Why the f*ck are you back? How did they let you in?" I asked my voice a little deeper than intended.
He laughed which made me grit my teeth. "Reed, I'm back because I'm one of the best racers around and why wouldn't they let me back?" He said innocently.
I snapped I grabbed his suit and pulled him close to me. Face to helmet.
"Cut the bullshit Derek. You and I both know what you did! You could've killed me and the other racers! You shouldn't be back! What the f*ck did you do so they let you back in?!" I screamed. Anger flooded my veins. I wanted to punch that smug smile of his dumb-ass face so f*cking badly!
"Reed!" I heard Jerry yell my name.
"You better go and check you car." Derek said with amusement in his eyes.
I growled. I was so close to just snapping and punching him in the face.
"Reed! What the f*ck are you doing?! You're late let's go! You gotta have your test drive." Jerry yelled now closer to me than before.
I stayed still for a few minutes before letting him go. I pushed him back a bit before turning around and marching down to the garage with Jerry.
I slammed the metal doors of the garage opened, strutted in, and slammed my fist down on a metal cabinet where they kept all the tools for fixing the cars.
I heard the garage door slam close a minute later. I didn't bother to turn, I knew it had to be Jerry and he was pissed at me for being late, but I was livid because of Derek.
"Reed! Would you care to explain to me what the f*ck was happening out there? If I hadn't gone out to look for you, you would've gotten into a fight. You know they don't tolerate that shit here!" Jerry rambled on.
I finally just turned around to face him.
"Why the f*ck is he back? How in the hell did he even get back in?" I asked pissed off.
Jerry sighed. He rubbed a hand through his tired, sweaty face.
"I don't know. I've asked my superiors and they either said we aren't sure or I'm not classified to know." Jerry said, his voice more tired and calm than before.
"That's bullshit! I don't feel safe with him in the race and I'm sure the other racers don't either."
"I know, but they aren't as worried because they know that his real competition is you. If he's going to go after anyone it's going to be you. They know that we know that. In this race we are going to have to be watching you and your car like a f*cking hawk." Jerry said.
"No shit." I sighed.
Jerry was about to say something, but I cut him off.
"What time is it?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows scanning the garage for a clock.
Jerry looked a bit taken back by my question.
Guess he didn't expect it after the conversation we were having.
He lifted his right arm to look at the watch on his wrist. "Umm it's 3:05. Why?"
"Let's do this test drive fast I gotta go do something really quick at 3:20 and I should be back by 4." I said hurriedly as I was frantically looking for my keys.
"The race starts at 4:30 are you sure you will be back by then?" Jerry asked me a little worried I won't make it back in time.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Where the hell are my keys!" I groaned as I kept searching but to no avail.
Jerry chuckled causing me to snap my head towards him. He stuffed one hand in his pocket and retrieved my keys from them.
"Here ya go." Jerry said as he tossed me my keys, still chuckling a bit.
I rolled my eyes, not that he could see because of my helmet, and climbed into my pride and joy and shut the door after me.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Holding my breath I turned the ignition on and exhaled as the engine roared into life. I grinned.
I put my hands on the steering wheel and gripped it tightly.
This is the best feeling anyone could ever experience. No words could describe how the roar of the engine makes me feel, how the vibrations of the car run through me making me feel so energetic...So alive!
No pain, no wounds, no worries. All I have to do is feel the rush. Get to the finish.
No need to win because as long as I get to the finish that is a win on it's own. I've seen racers who don't make it to the finish line... For one reason which is their car swerved. It doesn't matter whether it was by accident or on purpose, their car swerved, and they don't make it...

I stepped out of my car and closed the door. I'm grinning so wide with joy.
"The test drive went great. Good job Reed." Jerry said as the rest of the crew rushed by checking the car again.
"You should go it's 3:19." Jerry said looking at his watch.
"Right. I'll be back soon." I yelled over my shoulder as I jogged out of the track.
I got into my crappy car. Took my helmet off making sure no one was around this time. I hid the helmet in the back and drove out of there to go pick up Jaiden from school.-------Author's Note-------
Sucky chp. I feel like my writing is getting worse and more boring by the chp... :/
