I ran as fast as I could through the deserted halls all the way to the parking lot filled with cars, to my car. I unlocked it and slammed the door shut after me. My breaths were ragged due to my aching throat and sprinting all the way here.
I turned the engine on and it soothed me enough for my breath to get back to normal, yet it still didn’t calm enough. I sped out of the parking lot without a second thought; my destination Titi’s house. My finish line, Titi’s house.
I was freaking out to say the least. Titi is the only escape in my life. I can’t go to Travis because he doesn’t make me laugh like Titi does. He doesn’t know how to make me feel better like Titi does. Titi has this thing about him that can make me feel good in life… He makes me… happy.
Titi is one of the most important people in my life and I won’t let him get arrested.
Giving away my trust is very hard for me. I don’t trust many people and Titi happens to be one of the ones I do trust. Trusting someone means more to me than love. Therefore I more than love Titi… I trust him.
If he got arrested, not only would I lose my best friend, but Jaiden would lose the smidge of happiness he gives her as well. Not to mention without Titi’s income, Lisa would have a harder time paying the bills and money would be tight since Penelope doesn’t work due to Titi wanting her to focus solely on her studies. Plus the pain that Lisa and Penelope would go through losing another family member, the only “man” in the house due to his father’s death.
Before I knew it I was at Titi’s house. Two cop cars were parked outside his house. I parked and was out of the car slamming the door behind me in a blink of an eye.
My mind was blank, my face emotionless as I was completely determined and alert.
I walked up to the front door and I opened the door without bothering to knock. I closed it firmly after I walked in and walked to the living room where Titi sat on the couch hand-cuffed while two cops stood tall and strict looking.
I stopped in my tracks. Titi turned to look at me and smiled that big, warm smile that melts your heart which made me give him a small smile and calm down until I saw a frown appear on his face.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, until the police officers spoke to me.
“Mam, who are you?” The eldest looking police officer spoke first in a deep, rough voice.
He seemed to be about 37 years old, light brown hair, a mustache, and very strict and experienced. His badge said Officer Townsend.
“What happened to your eye Ms. Reed?” The second police officer spoke.
He was about 21 years old, handsome face, sculpted body, dirty blonde hair, and dark blue eyes with specks of green. His badge read Officer Tevasco.
“Mikey, what’s going on?” I asked the second police officer.
“Alex, answer me.” He said strongly.
“You know each other?” Officer Townsend asked Officer Tevasco.
“Yes.” He answered his partner not breaking eye contact with me. “Well?” He asked getting angry at my lack of response.
Michael –Mikey- Tevasco is an old friend of Titi’s and I’s. He went to high school with Titi, since he’s two years older, and elementary school as well, and were great friends so naturally we became great friends as well. We stopped being in contact once he graduated because he had college – which the smart-ass graduated a few months ago – and as he was in college, he was in the police academy and graduated early as well and then became a cop so he has been extremely busy. Also the fact that we are illegally street racing doesn’t help the keeping-in-touch thing.
