"...Control!", Shadow says, finishing a Chaos Control teleportation. As he looks around, he notices he is in the middle of combat, as Sonic is pinned down by a Badnik and spins around, kicking it off himself. He swings a punch as another robot threatens him. Sonic continues to defend, destroying robots. "Ohoho!", Dr. Eggman cackles. "Take this!", he announces, as he suddenly knocks Sonic away while he is distracted by a robot he is trying to spin-dash. "Woah!", Sonic yells, before a splash is heard from the distance. "—Catch you later, hedgehog!", Eggman exits.
Alarmed, Shadow remembers Sonic cannot swim, so he propels himself forward at full speed, boosted by his hover shoes, searching to rescue him. He finds Sonic flailing his arms in the water, but unusually panicked. Is he too late? He would find it amusing if Sonic were not drowning. Shadow dives in and grabs Sonic by the hand while he is closing his eyes. Shadow teleports out of the body of water. Sonic now lays in Shadow's arms. Shadow stares at Sonic's face where his emerald-green eyes were open just seconds ago. "No, please—", he thinks, while wondering if he is still alive, "—please be okay." He gently places his hands on his chest and, to his relief, feels a heartbeat. He presses harder, allowing Sonic to cough out the water.
