Shadow accidentally found himself and Sonic trapped somewhere while on a mission, but the place he was imprisoned in blocked his ability to teleport out, and neither his and nor Sonic's physical abilities are not enough to break out of it with. Shadow called for backup from G.U.N. and is now waiting for help. Meanwhile, Sonic's arm is injured from what attacked him.

Shadow suddenly has a flashback to feeling trapped in an escape pod on Space Colony ARK before he was sent to Earth, as he watched Maria's life fleet in front of him. Sonic notices and wakes him up from the daytime nightmare. Sonic hugs him. "Thank you.", Shadow says, appreciating the comfort. For once, Sonic does not answer— no "You're welcome.", no "No problem.", no "It's my pleasure."— silence.

"Sonic?", Shadow asks out loud, concerned, "You're feeling nervous too, aren't you?"

"Yeah. I'm not used to not being able to do something, you know?"

"Yes. It's okay. You're strong."

"So are you."

Shadow smiles again. He soon frowns again, remembering something: he is not the only one in the room who has been trapped helplessly before. How was Sonic okay all of those times? He remembers the present again, but unfortunately with a crude awakening. "Ack.", Sonic sighs in pain, clutching his arm. Shadow sighs.

"I'm worried. I didn't tell Tails where I was going. What if we're here for a while before they find us?", he lists his grievances.

"It's fine, Sonic. Knowing him, he trusts you'll make it back safe later."

"I wasn't even supposed to be here."

"You got that right."

Sonic laughs. Soon, he cries, his laughter turning to tears— them flowing over his face. "Sonic, you're— you're crying.", Shadow says, worried and astonished. "Y-yeah... I am.", he answers. Shadow draws Sonic closer, hugging him. As Sonic looks down, Shadow lifts his chin and stares into his eyes. "Um, Shadow?", Sonic says, unsure what to say. "It's okay.", he answers him, understanding that the uncertainties, waiting and pain were all becoming too much for Sonic right now. Shadow heals him with Chaos energy. Sonic smiles again. Shadow suddenly cracks a smile, somewhat amused, "You look very different when you cry— cute, even."

"H-hey.", Sonic curts, backing up a little, his eyes twinkled by his tears.

Shadow chuckles, before kissing him on the forehead.

"Stop." Sonic turns away, his face going from teary-eyed to reddened.

Shadow purrs at his blushing. "I see.", he says, realizing he has been touchy enough. He releases Sonic from his grasp. "Do you feel better?"

"Yeah. Thanks."
