This takes place in between the events of "Sonic & Shadow: Family" and "Sonic & Shadow: Sonar (Last Story)".
"—So, you risked everything to save me.", Shadow acknowledges, after he lets Sonic finish sharing what happened. "Yeah, pretty much.", Sonic says, almost in a playful tone, but his voice also trailing off.
"I see."
The moment grows quieter, with reflection.
"Sonic, I heard what you were saying before I went unconscious.", Shadow suddenly says. Sonic feels a throb of surprise, now aware Shadow heard his desperate pleas. He darts his eyes away, now a little cheerless. "Did you really mean it?", Shadow asks him, aware of its meaning. "Yeah.", Sonic says, turning his eyes back to him. They are both silent again for a moment, before Shadow continues the discussion, "It means a lot to me. Please know I am happy almost every moment I'm with you." Sonic smiles again, "That's good.", thinking, "That matters a lot to me, seeing Shadow happy."
"Please, I want to see your contagious cheer again.", Shadow deeply requests. "Okay!", Sonic agrees, returning to his happiness.
