Shadow & Sonic (Full)

Beginning the Investigation

"How the [heck] did this happen?", Shadow thinks. "Yes, Sonic does go without a trace sometimes, but receiving a report he's missing? This is unheard of."

He soon teleports to Tails' laboratory, after accepting to complete the mission.

"Tails, where did you last see him?", he asks Miles. "He was here. He ran off, like usual, but he didn't come back. At first, I wasn't worried but, when I tried to call him with one of my communicators to see if he was just on an adventure or something, he didn't answer, which is so unlike him."

"When did you last see him?"

"It was some time last week."

"Do you have any ideas where he might have gone?"

"No, sadly."

"Alright."

Shadow spends the next few hours asking Sonic's friends questions, but he finds no helpful clues as to where he went: only the direction he ran. Eventually, he has to resort to another agency, a certain detective team who also finds Sonic beloved.

"Charmy, go answer the door.", Vector tells someone.

"Okay, Vector!"

"Oh hey, Shadow!", the bee energetically welcomes. "Hello.", Shadow greets. "Finally, someone competent around here—", Espio thinks.

Shadow went to the Chaotix. He soon details his investigation and asks them if they know anything about it. "Nope, sorry,", Vector answers, continuing, "but we can help if you want." "As much as I'd like the pay, you're better off doing this yourself. Trust me.", Espio cuts in. "Don't be that way, Espio.", the crocodile chides. "Shadow, if you need someone to do some investigatin', we're the team to call!", he adds.

"I see."

"Since Sonic's a friend of ours too, we'll do this one for free."

"Really? Thank you."

"No problem."

"Let's go find him."

"Right."

Soon,

Shadow leaves, to further investigate, the Chaotix following.

A few hours later,

"Look what I found!", Charmy cheers. "What is it, Charmy?", Vector asks.

"They're footprints, and they look like they came from Sonic's sneakers."

"Excellent observation— Shadow, can you confirm this?"

Shadow examines, answering, "Yes, those do look like his." "Good, we're getting somewhere.", Vector congratulates the team. Espio nods, smiling in satisfaction. "Okay, let's see which direction they're headed.", Vector continues. The team follows.

Soon, they find the footprints stop at a beach.

"Does anyone else get a sinking feeling?", Vector jokes, before nervously chuckling. "Vector, this is no time to play around and you know that.", Espio rebukes.

"Yeah."

"Wait. There's more clues over here.", Charmy observes, pointing out skid marks in the sand and other signs of battle. "Do you think what I'm thinking?", Vector asks. "Yes. It appears Sonic was in some sort of skirmish.", Espio adds. Shadow looks down, concerned, thinking, "What if he was knocked into the water? It doesn't seem that anyone here would've rescued him, but—" "Wait. Do you think he was captured?", Shadow inquires.
